Apple has pulled QuickPick from the App Store after the application was discovered over the weekend as a means of displaying system shortcuts in the iOS 5 Notification Center. We showed you QuickPick in action on video, and the $0.99 app was available for both the iPhone and iPad.

It’s unclear as to why Apple pulled QuickPick from the App Store, but the app did use iOS URL schemes to invoke system shortcuts β€” a feature that Apple has already tried to block in iOS. If you try to download QuickPick from the App Store right now, you’ll be told that the app is now unavailable.

[Thanks, Daniel!]

  • I think it’s really not understandable why in the world Apple feels the need to block that. Do they want us to jailbreak?

Quick Settings Functionality is my main reason for jailbreaking since I first did it years ago. Until now nothing changed. They are not even trying to give us this function. Instead they fight against improvement. But why?

haha of course apple is forcing us all to jailbreak xD

What if i already DLed the app? will it be deleted from my phone?

Nope. If you got it before it was pulled, it’s yours, enjoy.

Yet again people and their assumptions, not everyone lives in the US you know.

      • I live in Russia and I registred US account with random adress. If you want to buy apps, music etc from US account you have to pay through iTunes Prepaid Cards or US Credit Card.

Balls to that lol, if it isn’t available in the UK store I ain’t arsed about getting it lol

      • Anonymous

This offer is not only in the US you know.

      • Anonymous

I don’t care where it’s available, it certainly isn’t available on the UK store.

If its not available to you in the UK store, too bad for you then. Suck a thumb.

      • Burn!

  • And that’s why I didnt buy are going to block this in I didn’t think it was worth wasting cash on this app , even though it was only 69p/99c

  • Simon Reidy

Flashlaunch provides exactly the same functionality (along with a huge list of shortcuts). It’s currently free too.

      Apparently pulled, as well.

Well, apparently they want to help promote pod2g’s work on the untether and simply have all end users whom enjoy this convenience of functionality to be forced into performing a flawless jailbreak for some SBS and IntelliscreenX fun πŸ˜› I am rather surprised though. Either Apple hates its customers, or wants to steal more features as others on-board with the true iOS experience of a jailbreak. Interesting indeed. They are really getting us to be more and more excited in the days to come with this untether on the verge of being ready for the world. Awesome πŸ™‚

  • Common guys, how in the world would Apple have more money in their account than the US government if not by stealing and forcing people to pay for features?? No need to worry, those options will probably become available as a part of a future version of iOS maybe only available on the next iPhone model πŸ™‚
Don’t wanna be an a$$ about it but.. that’s how they make their money. Yes, they do give their users something that they cannot complain about (features and long time support for older devices) but they do overreact when it comes to some app doing more than they want it to do.
They make money through control, standards, strictness and discipline. The “new world order” πŸ˜€
That’s why I still keep my full of fun Nexus One πŸ˜‰

Nevertheless, I love my 3GS as well. Perfect for business use

im just happy to sit here on 5.0 with Jeff Broderick’s shortcut options. i miss SBS hugely but for now, until an untethered option becomes available, this is better than nothing πŸ™‚

    One word…pathetic.

  • This is why apps like this aren’t worth investing into. Last time I bought icon project, it got pulled. $.99 gone πŸ™

You know, I’m not really surprised. Apple isn’t really a company that likes to makes things easy for their customers. They don’t serve their customers, they serve only themselves.

  • Doesn’t anyone remember what happened to the Siri app? Apple probably pulled QuickPick so they can put it in iOS 5.1.
