Sparrow is Ready to Fly Onto Your iPhone, Here’s a Teaser Image

By , Nov 3, 2011

The folks at Sparrow make one of the slickest email apps for the Mac around. You can buy Sparrow for Gmail in the Mac App Store for $9.99. The app looks and feels a whole lot like the official Twitter app and the deceased Tweetie client.

A report from months agosaid that Sparrow was coming to the iPhone, and the app’s developers have posted a teaser image to whet our appetites…

Business Insider was given a teaser shot of the Sparrow for iPhone app in all of its mysterious glory. The app is in the final development stage, and it’s expected to flutter into the App Store within the next few months.

Here’s what a member of the Sparrow team told BI:

“We want our user to spend less time on mail. Our goal is to provide an efficient and playful experience,” Leca told us. “But we need to see if the UI we’ve come up with makes as much sense on the iPhone as we thought when we designed it. Our focus is efficiency.”

After the embarrassment that was the official Gmail app, a well-designed Gmail client for the iPhone is definitely something we all want to see. We’ll be eagerly awaiting the Sparrow for iPhone app. It can’t come soon enough.

Never having used Sparrow, I’ll be on the lookout to see what reviews the app will get. And btw it’s whet not “wet” :)

The title of this article is pretty disingenuous considering the developers are saying it’s still months away from being released. It’s not really “ready” to fly onto anybody’s phone yet.

“to wet our appetites” ?!? Er… Um… That should be “whet”. Or as Stewie would say (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lich59xsjik), “Hwhet”

Awesome!! I use Sparrow on my mac and love how it integrates with Facebook. Now when strangers or business associates email me, I can see their profile pic!

Can’t wait for this to drop yo.

For me, the thing I absolutely love about Sparrow is that I can use gmail keyboard shortcuts.
