Business Insider was given a teaser shot of the Sparrow for iPhone app in all of its mysterious glory. The app is in the final development stage, and it’s expected to flutter into the App Store within the next few months.

Here’s what a member of the Sparrow team told BI:

“We want our user to spend less time on mail. Our goal is to provide an efficient and playful experience,” Leca told us. “But we need to see if the UI we’ve come up with makes as much sense on the iPhone as we thought when we designed it. Our focus is efficiency.”

After the embarrassment that was the official Gmail app, a well-designed Gmail client for the iPhone is definitely something we all want to see. We’ll be eagerly awaiting the Sparrow for iPhone app. It can’t come soon enough.
