Turntable.fm has released its official iPhone app. Like we told you about last week, Turntable.fm has been working on an iPhone app that lets users access its hugely popular music social network.

Since the app’s release in the App Store a couple days ago, Turntable.fm for iPhone has been receiving mixed responses of criticism and praise. All of the aspects that you love about Turntable.fm on the desktop have been ported to the iPhone, so start DJing!

“turntable lets you play music together with your friends and other people online. Each DJ takes a turn playing a song and the entire virtual room hears the song. You can vote on whether the song is awesome or lame and if it receives too many lame votes, it gets skipped.

turntable is also truly social. You can chat with people in your room or fan your favorite DJs so that you can find them later. Help people discover new great music or just sit around and listen to the best curated music experience online.”

As GigaOM notes, Turntable.fm’s new app isn’t perfect, with some annoying glitches involving Facebook, 3G dropouts, etc. Apparently, there are more bugs when a room gets really popular, suggesting that Turntable.fm has some coding and tinkering that needs to be done.

In the app you can navigate to different DJ “rooms” and listen to tunes while also interacting with other users.  Your own song queue is actually synced between iPhone and desktop versions of Turntable.fm, which is a nice touch.

You can create your own DJ rooms and play tracks from the iPhone app, but you can’t upload music directly from your device. Other users on the iPhone version of Turntable.fm are indicated with little iPhones in the hands of their avatars.

Obviously, a crowded room on Turntable.fm’s iPhone app is going to equal a huge pain when it comes to navigation. It’s hard to touch on individual avatar when a room is packed tight with many users. The app begs for an iPad version, so hopefully Turntable.fm is working on that for a future update.

Overall, Turntable.fm is an awesome app for iPhone users to enjoy and use on the go. Download it for free in the App Store.
