If unique is what you’re after, then you’re going to love JackBacks.

If there’s one downside to everyone and their grandmother being the proud owner of an iPhone 4 right now, it’s that there’s nothing really unique about the handset itself. Granted, some may have a fancy case, but other than that, all our iPhones look the same.

The JackBacks wooden iPhone 4 case is sure to set you apart from the rest of the boring, bumper-clad iPhone lovers out there…

If you’re anything like me, and I hope for all our sakes that you’re not, you’ll have found yourself scouring the internet for replacement back panels for the iPhone 4. Not necessarily because you’re old one is broken (though, let’s be honest, it’s a distinct possibility), but because you like to be different. Unique, if you will.

Developer-turned-iPhone back panel creator Adam Baumgartner might just have something to make your iPhone 4 stand out from the crowd, and that’s a wooden back plate.

You have a selection of wood to choose from; bamboo, mahogany, and maple all included. But that’s not where the fun ends. Baumgartner will also etch a logo or design into the aforementioned panels, too, making your iPhone truly unique.

Costs vary depending on the wood chosen and design to be used, but it’s a small price to pay for knowing that nobody has the same iPhone as you anymore. If you like to stand out from the crowd, you might just want to give JackBacks a whirl.

First person to get the iDB logo etched into one of these things wins, well, nothing. But hey, it’d be super cool!

like the unique look.. 2 problems. 1. if i dont have a back case or atleast one that covers the sides my reception gets a bit funky. and yes its true, its not some kinda rumour! my phone reception goes to zero if i hold the sides!
    2. you can still break the back with a wood case! maybe even more so.. you get a crack in that wood case and get some water in it.. say one a rainy day and its in your pocket.. your screw! soo.. cool look. but not for me. i want to be able to resell this phone once an unlock + iphone 5 comes along.

Yano I really don’t understand some of you guys who are waiting for an unlock, unless your device is knocked off why don’t you pay for it unlocking, you surely can’t be that tight, or maybe you are .. In the UK my iPhone can be unlocked for free if my contract is up or only £20 to unlock it early.

For months i’ve seen people crying about no unlock and saying they’re going to sell their iPhone unless an unlock comes out :

!) You must be dumb to buy 1 in the first place, locked, relying purely on some devs to do there thing.
      2) Just pay for it unlocking or trade it in because there has been no unlock for later basebands and people have been waiting months so the chance of 1 for iOS 5, errrrr, i’d say it’s slim.

Forgive me if you live somewhere that costs a lot to unlock it but if it’s only £20 here in the UK, it can’t be that much everywhere else and if it is, either bite the bullet or get rid because if an unlock comes for the advanced basebands or even the lower 1’s when it hasn’t for months, i’ll be very surprised !!

James the problem is that most of the people that are waiting for an unlock cannot get it unlocked where they live. Biggest example the USA, if you are on any baseband that isn’t 1.59.00 you cannot unlock it because Apple nor At&t will not do it. Some do not use the Gevey Sim because of some errors (with the repo). Lastly the only other way to get an unlocked iPhone is buy going to an Apple store selling it to them and then buying an unlocked version at full retail price. Thus, leading to many people waiting for an unlock and fact of the matter is that we will not get one as it is clearly impossible (seems to be impossible) for anyone to find a way to unlock with ultrasn0w.

Surely theres a higher risk of water damage from a wooden back, though it does look very nice especially if you engrave the back of it as mentioned.
