Horns. They’re underrated little things, aren’t they? Design firm en&is clearly agrees, which is why it has come up with the MegaPhone, a horn-type affair which promises to improve the clarity and volume of whatever is coming out of your iPhone’s speakers.

Yes, we’re serious…

The description, translated from Italian by Google, explains the concept:

“Amplifier passive ceramic iphone. The form is designed to amplify and optimize the best sound output. The amplifier is based on a thin wooden structure that allows the object to float off the table. This is to increase the vibration of the object being used and to optimize the emission of sound. Designed for the iPhone is perfect for listening to music without headphones, for audio conference to hear the person on the phone as if he were talking in the same room.”

Now granted, the idea may seem a little weird, but few could argue that the MegaPhone isn’t one sexy piece of kit. The hand-made ceramic horn is a thing of beauty, and if this video is a real representation, the audio results aren’t too bad either.

No word on pricing yet, but we can’t help but think it’s going to be a bit on the high side!

  • blah

    This is an AMAZING idea!!

    • I agree with “blah”…..

This is very cool….. I actually will cup my hand at the base of the iPhone to enhance the speaker phone – DAMN!!! I with I had thought of this idea first!

I carn’t wait to see this on a car dashboard… hands free or what..

  • James

It looks vile and the sound quality is rubbish from the iPhone without at least using a decent quality speaker, not a glass or a piece of ceramic .. As always though there is no accounting for taste.

  • Joe

Lol. Love the plug and play near the end.

    • IndiePhoenix

+1 :)) This is really cool!

  • STK10

WTF is this a gag site now? How about some reviews on something useful.

    • Justin

It is a real product. That doesn’t really fall under the gag idea. Obviously it is a novelty item but there are people that would buy this. I would totally buy it if I had the money for it.

  • anthonyappleguy

  • Bonham

anyone with a right mind would pay $399 euro for this??? nuts…..

    • IndiePhoenix

If I had money to spare I’d surely buy this! Classic! 😀

      • Bonham

        Classic dump you troll 😀

  • Donovan

That’s awesome to bring to the beach or a picnic. I am so buying this. All the nasty comments on here, I assure you that the people that left them are losers that have accomplished nothing in there life and cruise the Internet all day looking at these beautiful things they will never have and get filled with hate. Instead of going out there working you leave comments on here bashing an idea your weak brains could never of developed. If you don’t like it why bash it? That hate and jealousy is a cancer get well soon losers.

    • seeit

You are one of the losers yourself…….

  • Joel

One major issue I forsee with this… The iPhone’s main microphone is right beside the speaker. It said sometime about conference calls – you’d have to be talking to the person through that thing and they would also be getting feedback like nobody’s business.

    • Justin

Good point. Probably wouldn’t be idea for that scenario.
