Sn0wBreeze 2.8 Beta 5 has been released by iH8snow for Windows users. This version jailbreaks iOS 5 Beta 5, and also includes a few handy features along the way.

This is a tethered jailbreak. A notable feature in this release is the abiltiity to install iOS 5 and skip the UDID developer check, meaning you don’t have to be a developer to install the iOS 5 beta (providing you have the firmware downloaded)…

Here’s the full change log:

  • Now supports iOS 5 beta 5 (9A5228d).
  • Added Hacktivation ability.
  • Added option to remove UDID developer check/Beta Timer.
  • Finally decided to fix Baseband preservation standalone mode.
  • Tethered devices are booted via iBooty.
  • Re-added afc2.

Supported Devices & Tethered?

  • iPhone 3GS [Old bootrom] — NO
  • iPhone 3GS [New bootrom] — YES
  • iPhone 4 [GSM] — YES
  • iPhone 4 [CDMA] — YES
  • iPad 1G — YES
  • iPod Touch 3G — YES
  • iPod Touch 4 — YES

Although iOS 5 Beta 5 is fairly stable, we still would not recommend the use of beta software for your personal iDevices. If you have to Google search to learn how to install Apple beta software, you’re probably not intended to have access to the iOS 5 betas.

If you’re interested in downloading the latest version of Sn0wBreeze, you can find it in our downloads section.

wishin’ i had an extra ipod touch 4g lying around.

Just get it. If having it makes you happy and fulfilled, then why not. Remember life is short. Enjoy it.

  • I hate ios5 b5. Too glitchy. Tomorrow might bring b6.

    • QuarterSwede

Too glitchy? It’s the most stable so far. Not perfect but almost done.

  • Jimmy

I really can’t wait for the final release now, i’ll still jailbreak for certain things but it will be nice to finally have a good few tweaks implemented in iOS 5, I love jailbreaking but the less I have to install the better my device will run, SBSettings and Springtomize might be the only things I need when iOS 5 hits.

    • Eric

In iOS 5 you won’t be using sbsettings. You’ll be using BBSettings. Same thing but part of notification center. Using it now. It has killed sbsettings

      • QuarterSwede

You’ll still need UI Settings as well for airplane mode, BT, wifi as it has none of those toggles. I’m not a fan of BBSettings. It also takes up too much room.

  • ic0edx

ih8snow is an asshole. Why would you adda UDID bypass. The. Weston of iOS is still for devs. This fag always talk shit about people doing this kinda stuff with app but yet he did it with his Jailbreak.

    • kokhean

It’s for jailbreak app developers without an Apple Developer Account…

I wouldn’t recommend going to beta 5 at all….for some unknown reson when I tried to downgrade I had the 1015 error , even when tring to install the iOS 4.3.5…i even restored my pc the end I managed to do it but it took me a few hours to do it…then I had no internet over 3G …that was fixed by doing a deactivate with redsnow then letting iTunes reactivate my phone…I still do not know if this was a one off or Apple have made downgrades almost impossible now…anyway good look if you try iOS 5 and then you decide to downgrade …

    • Eric

iOS 5 beta 5 is awesome. Battery life is best ever. Why downgrade? Downgrading is not possible cause each iTunes beta is for a specific iOS beta. And it’s not as simple as uninstalling iTunes and installIng an Older version. There’s are files that have to be deleted, etc.

      • Burge

I agree iOS5 is brill…but I missed my jailbreak more and the tweaks that come with it…..and as for the downgrade.. iTunes b4 will let you downgrade to 4.3.3..iTunes B5 will not..that’s why I did a pc restore..but I still had error 1015 coming up even on a restore to 4.3.5 ? And that should not happen…still got there in the end ..

  • If I hacktivate it w/o jailbreak, will it still need to be tethered? And is there any possibility I can downgrade back to 4.3.5?

    • ic0edx

If all of your software is up to date then you should not have a problem, restoring to iOS 4.3.5 and then if you have your 4.3.3 SHSh blobs saved restoring to that iOS is always best. I always find that going from iOS 5 to 4.3.3 very hard and almost impossible.

      • Thanks man. I don’t have SHSH saved though. But I can still go to 4.3.5 though, right?

      • Mike

I have no issues going to 4.3.3 from beta 5 but it’s better to go to 4.3.5 and then to 4.3.3 if you are ever likely to be bothered about an unlock, beta 5 has an updated modem firmware and it is only downgraded by restoring to 4.3.5 which is still being signed.

  • rnorthboy

is it unlockable with ultrasnow once you jailbreak with ipad baseband?

  • QuarterSwede

Yes this version makes bypassing the dev check easy but it’s not like it was all that hard to begin with if you know what file to modify.

  • Mase

If my iOS version right now is 4.2.10 since it’s on verizon, can I still do this…because I’ve tried every jailbreak I could find but I can still not jailbreak my iPhone.
