Skype Launches New WiFi iPhone App For Easy Hotspot Access

Public WiFi hotspots have been popping up left and right over the last few years, and while many of them are free, most require a paid fee. The problem what paid, public WiFi networks is that it’s yet another account to set up, and yet another company to trust with your credit card details.

Skype has launched an iOS app that should make things a little easier in the WiFi hotspot department, thanks to Skype WiFi. Formerly known as Skype Access, Skype WiFi allows users to pay for public internet access using their existing Skype credit…

Another feature that sets Skype WiFI apart is the way it bills. No daily fees here; with Skype charging by the minute, you only cough up for what you’ve actually used. Great for those that just need a couple of minutes to check and respond to email, or get hold of some directions using Google Maps.

“WiFi access prices through Skype start from US$ 0.06/4p/€0,05 (inclusive of VAT) per minute* and you will only be charged for the minutes you are connected. There are no limits on the amount of data you can upload or download.”

The Skype WiFi app is free to download, and is available right now in the App Store. This is a great tool for any iPhone or iPad users who find themselves needing a WiFi connection while out and about. We can see this app being used heavily by international travelers.
