RomanBadge, a recently released tweak on Cydia’s Big Boss repo, allows you to add some old school flavor to your iPhone’s Home screen.

Though it’s highly unlikely you’ve been searching for a way to change your app badge numbers into those of the first century superpower variety, it is an interesting alternative to the norm.

While admittedly, this tweak won’t appeal to everyone, the following video might be enough to convince you to give it a shot…

Convinced? If your iPhone is jailbroken, head over to Cydia and download RomanBadge free of charge.

Have you tried it?

  • Before someone else does, I want to tell you that you don’t have 8 missed calls. You have 13 missed calls 🙂

But it doesn’t matter, we get the idea of the app.

Great filming technique by the way. I like where you’re going with that and I’m sure iDB readers will agree with me.

    Keep it up, buddy!

  • Crap! My roman numeral skills are waning.

    • Saleh

      Oh Noes!
      u said a bad word ):

  • Pieter

Great, clarifying video, as always (:

  • Andy

I really like this tweak but it doesn’t make Farenheit very readable 🙁

  • John

Cool but doesn’t show badges for Folders

  • Mike

Wouldn’t want to see that for people who have a lot of unread messages. 38, and 88 would be a huge badge.

    • Rick

      XXXIII
      and
      LXXXVIII

lmao, I see your point, but I suppose it’s just for the hell of changing the badges

      • Li

Hahaha!! What if there’s hundreds unread message from aim or msn haha!!!

      • Scott

        38 = XXXVIII

Okay, so I thought I’d give RomanBadges a trial. I didn’t like it so I uninstalled the package from Cydia but a few of my icons still have roman numerals and some have arabic numbers. Not sure how to remedy this, haha. Have tried respringing and resetting. Just a warning to others who may want to experiment!

    • Scott

I had this problem too, it eventually sorted itself out somehow. It wouldn’t show folder badges either.

  • inliferound

Oh, I spoke too early. I didn’t need to respring or reset. All I had to do was enter the app once and it reverted back to normal. My bad!
