Add Custom Boot Sounds to Your iPhone With ‘iStartupSound’

Let’s face it, the iPhone’s lack of boot jingles is a bit on the boring side. Every phone that I can ever remember has had some sort of nifty boot jingle, but the iPhone? Nada.

That’s about to change with the advent of the upcoming iStartupSound, which will be a free jailbreak tweak available soon on the ModMyi Repo.

iStartupSound is a creation by developer, Vladislav Korotnev, and it allows you to have custom boot sounds whenever you reboot, or respring for that matter.

Right now, it is a bit clunky in its implementation, but that’s obviously subject to change, considering it’s not even available publicly yet.

As it stands, you have to jump through a couple of hoops to get your sounds working, but it’s not too difficult of an affair for anyone who’s jailbroken, and knows their way around iOS proficiently.

Personally, I think this is a great way to be able to further customize your iPhone, and I’m definitely looking forward to its release.

If you’d like to check it out now, head over to Git Hub, and download the appropriate .deb file. Once installed, toss a sound file named startup.wav into the /var/mobile/ directory. Once there, reboot or respring, and you should hear your custom tone. For more details, I highly recommend you check out ModMyi’s post on iStartupSound.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to iStartupSound? Remember, it will be free.
