Everyday I receive multiple emails inquiring about the whereabouts of the DreamStore. For those of you who don’t know, the DreamStore was the means by which one could download and purchase DreamBoard themes, sort of like its own dedicated app store.
Recently, the DreamStore has ceased to function. The app is there, but attempting to use it yields connectivity errors. Apparently, the DreamStore has gone the way of the dodo.
Thankfully for all of the DreamBoard diehards, there are a couple of viable alternatives to the DreamStore; I share them in this video walkthrough…
There are two primary ways to access new themes for DreamBoard in light of the DreamStore’s early death.
Here you will find a wealth of information and feedback from the theme developers themselves. The ModMyi forums are a great resource for acquiring the latest bleeding edge themes as well.
The downside is that you will have to know how to install the themes yourself, because they aren’t presented in pretty packages like our next option.
Cydia is by far the easiest method to acquire and install DreamBoard themes; in fact, it’s even easier than the DreamStore was.
The downside with Cydia is that you won’t get access to all of the latest themes. They usually take a bit longer to appear here than they do on ModMyi. The good news is that with the DreamStore’s demise, the migration to Cydia should be expedited.
Summing It Up
DreamBoard will live on, and will possibly become even more popular as many of the themes exclusive to the now defunct DreamStore migrate to Cydia.
