Over the past week or so, there have been rumors floating around about a 3G-Enabled iPod Touch coming later this fall. If this were happen, you would be able to use 3G data on your iPod Touch, for Facetime, iMessages, etc. You would also be able to use a VoIP app, such as Skype or Viber, to call people from your iPod Touch.

We took this concept to Photoshop, and we came up with the iPod Touch 3G. It looks exactly like the current iPod Touch, but has a black strip on the back. It also says “3G” in the menu bar. Along with that, it also features an integrated SIM card, as the next iPhone is rumored to have…

This idea could be possible in the future, as an iPhone “Nano” is rumored to be coming out in the fall, which could essentially be an iPod Touch with a 3G radio inside.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think there will be a 3G iPod Touch in the fall? Leave it in the comments below.

      • Bob

      • Bob

        But this would cost less!!!!!

  • ^ yeh im not just up grading my i ipod touch 4 to some 3g pice of shit i ant paying telsta shit or telsta or vodapohne

  • Julian

Apple would never do that! Apple wants everybody to buy an iPhone. If you make an iPod Touch with 3G, many people will buy an iPod Touch instead of an iPhone.

  • Dustin

What’s the point of the iPhone if the iPod has 3G? If you really want cellular data, might as well buy an iPhone.

  • Steve

Looks like a cruddier version than the iPhone.

  • ras

looks like a piece of shit

i think this could be cool if apple can pull off with this what google did with the chromebook and offer free data for like 1-2 years. i think with the chromebook you get like 100mb a month for free and after that you have to pay for it. 100mb, or more if apple can pull it off, would be plenty of data to use imessage for a month, or any of many messaging apps. i have an iphone and i dont talk a lot on it, mostly messaging and light web surfing and if they could offer this with some sort of free data plan, id buy one.

  • dutchjailbreaker

Shouldn’t it be called iPod Touch 5G?

  • I swear the rumours and people that believe them astound me! to think people actually make money off of these idiotic rumours based upon zero facts amazing!

  • I am confused isn’t there already a Ipod touch 3G

    • hakan

yess but it doesnt support 3g connection like the iPad

    • I was also thinking about the same thing

  • Arvee

This iPod Touch 3g if commercialized will suit for my needs. I don’t like to use an Apple product for texting because its battery life is too short. But if i’ll have this one. I can use my current phone to text others. #ThisIsMyOpinion

One of the biggest advantage of Ipod is that it is a PLAYER, not a phone! For me Iphone is not “just” a phone, but an entertaining tool. Music, games, movies, photos, FUN apps and Internet (with WiFi, but as it seems, no longer!!!). With a such active usage of your Iphone you will surely kill the battery within 4-5 hours, OK… 7 hours, and so what??? “The subscriber is not evaluable now, please, call back later” I hate this phrase when I’m calling my friends with Iphones!!!!!. So here is a sollution, iPod Touch 3G + simple phone with a huge battery which will live for 2 weeks without recharging like Nokia or Sony Ericsson for 30$. Yes, I will certainly buy it. :DD

  • Alex

sorry but this would NEVER happen. the point of an ipod is to pay for it only one time, no fees or bills. i mean…its an IPOD! if they put a 3G service, then its practically an iphone, and then no one would buy the iphone. its common sense that this would never happen in a million years!

    • Holly

      But for an Ipod
What about getting music and stuff and apps?
      that costs money?

I think its a great idea, im sick of trying to save enough money for some Iphone that everyone has that costs 1000 dollers, heck im not paying that for a phone
i already have an ipod touch and i love it to death!
i would deffinitly buy one! 😀

Actually starting to believe it may be true a 3G data enabled iPod touch might just be arriving

  • Tara

This is a good idea if it’s true. Android as of now is doing better than the iphone mainly because they have phones for every budget. An ipod touch with 3G could be a good thing by allowing more people to own an “iphone” without the high monthly fees. There’s a reason I own an Android phone and not an iphone though I do own an ipod touch.

  • This doesn’t look too bad. I hope the real thing looks like this concept.

  • nothing new in this design. But i like the design’s created by the guys over at WinkSoft Studios. They were Good.

  • How long have you been in this field? You seem to know a lot more than I do I’d love to know your sources. Cheers!
