In honor of the 4th of July, we figured it was appropriate to show off this promo video by SlickWraps. The iPad wrap manufacturers have gone through unusual lengths to show off their products before, but this one takes the cake.

TUAW‘s Erica Sadun passes on this viral clip of a wild demonstration of SlickWraps’ durability. I’ll give you a hint, it involves an iPad, a SlickWrap and a bunch of explosions…

I remember growing up and being told not to light firecrackers in the driveway, as doing so would cause unsightly burn marks in the pavement. Though not allowed on concrete, apparently fireworks are ok on iPads. At least when the iPad is covered up with a SlickWrap:

The company set off 300 black cats on top of a SlickWrapped iPad. Although the firecrackers left burn marks on the product, the iPad escaped mark free. This bodes well for all of those professional pyrotechnicians out there who are looking for a solid way to protect their tablets.

Thoughts? Where does this rank on your scale of awesomeness?

He didn’t even show if the iPad still works. With the fire, probably the internal parts that you can’t see got damaged.

that was some durability! i give it a 8, where is the protection on the front, i mean the screen is more important.

  • No news on the iPad 2 jailbreak leak yet. I’m on my iPad 2 jail broken right now.

      lol who asked?

This was pretty legit. They shoulda shown the screen and it operating.

lol of course the iPad still works, the whole purpose of the video was to show the material prevented burns and carbon from getting on the iPad. Fire crackers wouldn’t have been enough to mess up any of the internal componets. This material is pretty legit stuff, I’d like to see a chinese brand like icarbons stand up to that.
