Chinese Woman Offers her Virginity in Exchange for an iPhone 4

by Cody on Jun 22, 2011

It’s no secret that young adults are taking extreme measures to get their hands on Apple products. It wasn’t long ago that the story of the kid who sold one of his kidneys to buy an iPad 2 made its way around the internet.

Offering an organ for an Apple product seems pretty drastic, until you hear what this next girl is offering. The Korea Herald is reporting that a young Chinese woman has posted an “ad” offering to trade her virginity for an iPhone 4Read More

Discovr: The Coolest Way to Explore the App Store

by Alex Heath on Jun 22, 2011

Very rarely do we come across a truly original app discovery tool. Several apps, like Explor, do a good job at helping you find new apps in the App Store, but few of these discovery tools are actually fun to use.

Discovr already allowed you to discover new music on the iPhone, but a new version of the app makes it an App Store discovery tool for the iPhone and iPad. Instead of the classic list approach, Discovr presents you with a blank canvas that you fill with spider webs of related content.

Intrigued? Let’s take a closer look… Read More

Apple Planning On Allowing Third Party Widgets in iOS 5

by Alex Heath on Jun 22, 2011

An interesting tidbit has been discovered in Apple’s recently awarded iPhone patent. It looks as though Apple will indeed allow for the development of third party widgets in iOS 5.

For the past few weeks, jailbreak developers have been creating widgets for the iOS 5 Notification Center because Apple has yet to introduce an approved method for developing and distributing third party widgets.

According to the above patent, Apple will eventually allow for the creation of third party widgets on their platform. Read More

‘Orbit’ Exposé for iPhone Updated to Support iOS 4

by Jeff Benjamin on Jun 22, 2011

It’s been a long, long time… but change has finally come, and Orbit has been updated to support iOS 4.

Orbit, as you can probably recall, is the jailbreak app that allows you to initiate an iPhone Exposé mode using an Activator action.

It has been sitting in limbo for over a year waiting for iOS 4 support, and that support finally came a few weeks ago when ‘Orbit for iOS 4′ appeared out of nowhere on the Cydia store.

With its recent resurgence, we figured now would be as good of a time as ever to recap why this app is worth checking out… Read More

Add Text to Your iPhone’s Lock Screen With ‘Custom Lock’

by Jeff Benjamin on Jun 22, 2011

It looks like Tyler Nettleton saved one of his best jailbreak tweaks for last. His swan song, Custom Lock, allows iPhone jailbreakers to add their own custom message to their lock screen.

Custom Lock is the seventh and final entry for this round of TweakWeek and it allows you to use your iPhone’s lock screen as a virtual billboard.

A quick venture into your iPhone’s Settings app reveals a settings panel for Custom Lock that lets you add clock replacing text along with subtitle text.

Want to see what the results look like? Check inside for a brief video demo of Custom Lock in action… Read More

Censor Your SMS Messages With ‘SMS Censor’

by Jeff Benjamin on Jun 22, 2011

SMS Censor is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to censor certain words when using your iPhone’s default Messages app.

Its purpose is to prevent messages from being sent altogether if it detects a censored string residing in the body of your text message.

I’m not exactly sure who would want to use this, or how it would be used, but I’d imagine it would be a scenario where a parent is censoring or monitoring their child’s text messaging habits.

Unfortunately, if the child is smart enough to jailbreak the device in the first place, they’re definitely smart enough to find one of the many ways to work around a restriction such as this… Read More

Apple Wins Sweeping Patent on iPhone’s Multi-Touch User Interface

by Alex Heath on Jun 22, 2011

Apple has been awarded a patent filed in 2007 regarding the iPhone’s multi-touch user interface. As reported by PCMag, this patent is so broad that it could give Apple unprecedented ability to pressure other smartphone makers in the U.S.

This patent outlines the multi-touch technology Apple employs in iOS. Theoretically, this patent gives Apple the rights to almost all of the multi-touch gestures and interface designs that currently exist in other devices on the market. Read More

by Alex Heath on Jun 22, 2011

Apple and Samsung are currently in the middle of a heated copycat lawsuit. Apple accused Samsung of stealing the iPhone’s design, and Samsung retaliated by asking to see Apple’s unreleased products for comparison.

Both companies believe that their products designs are being copied, but one thing’s for sure: Samsung won’t be seeing any unreleased products from Apple. Read More
