Jailbreak Tweak Adds #NowPlaying Feature to Facebook

Now that 4.3.3 jailbreaks are available, you may be looking for some new tweaks to improve your iPhone experience. Luckily, the jailbroken app store known as Cydia is chock-full of them.

One of the latest tweaks to enter the underground app store is a nice, tiny extension for your Facebook application. If you have always wanted an easy way to share your music with your Facebook friends, you may want to check this out…

We covered a similar tweak not too long ago that added a ‘Now Playing’ button to the popular Twitter client, Tweetbot. The NowPlaying for Facebook tweak in Cydia is actually a dead ringer for its Tweetbot counterpart.

There’s no home screen icon, or settings to mess with. Once installed from Cydia, simply open up the official Facebook application, and prepare to do a status update. You should now see a tiny headphones icon next to the lock button.

Tapping this icon will paste the current song you are listening to into the status update. If it doesn’t seem to be working, make sure you are actually playing a track and that it isn’t paused or stopped.

Now that I have the ability to share my current playing music with friends from inside the Tweetbot and Facebook apps, I really don’t have a need for SoundTracking. I liked that it embedded a sound clip with the status updates, but other than that it’s not worth it to open up another app. If you want to try NowPlaying for Facebook, it’s available for free from Cydia (BigBoss).
