It looks like the Verizon iPhone isn’t holding up to Apple’s expectations. According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple has significantly reduced the production of CDMA/Verizon iPhone 4s in 2011.

DigiTimes reports that Apple has cut down production of the CDMA iPhone 4 from the originally expected 10 million units, down to only 5 million units

“Meanwhile, Pegatron originally expected to ship 10 million CDMA iPhone 4s in 2011, but sources from upstream component makers pointed out that Apple’s orders already saw a significant reduction and the volume is estimated to drop to only five million units.”

Verizon officially announced the CDMA iPhone 4 for its network in Febraury and recently reported that it had activated 2.2 million iPhones in only two months.

According to Verizon’s CFO, Fran Shammo, Apple’s next iPhone will be a “global device” compatible with all carriers. He revealed this information during the company’s last quarterly earnings call. The question still stands as to whether Apple’s next-generation iPhone will be manufactured by long time iPhone assembler Foxconn, or by Pegatron.

What do you think? Have you bought a Verizon iPhone yet?

  • Joel

Had it since launch and loving it

    • Me

Same here. I prefer Verizon over att

      • Jon Garrett

but you cant talk and do data at the same time.

      • Jason

That is true. But you do have to understand not many will use that advantage.

Hell when I talk on the phone. I actually TALK not surf the web and talk at the same time.

  • Alec

Also bought the day it came out and could not be happier, and i know multiple people at my highschool who have the cdma version, too.

  • jeff

Purchased 3 on the launch date and agree with Joel, the entire family loves them

    • mripod64

      3?! o.O

  • Brendan

Got my Verizon one a few weeks ago. Couldn’t wait for a 5 I’n the fall. Many of my Verizon friends are waiting for the 5 though. Loving it.

    • We are not potatos

Haha! All my friends tell I’m stupid for buying the iPhone 4 Verizon because iPhone 5 was gonna come out soon. There’s not a lot of legit rumors about iPhone 5. I couldn’t wait!

  • James

My wife and I love ours! Couldn’t be happier!

  • Nico

I love my new Verizon iPhone 4

  • Manuel

I like my iphone with Verizon but don’t like the multi calls and how it’s done. That’s my only issue with it.

  • I think Apple heard a lot of people say they are waiting for the 5 (which won’t be released at the WWDC in June as originally thought or hoped) and so they introduced the WHITE iPhone 4… seems to have worked so far!

  • Tbdm147

Waiting to switch from AT&T with iPhone 6. I want LTE.

  • C0ntr0l

Maybe they are getting ready for iphone4s or iPhone5 launch

  • SpideyRules

This has to be taken with a grain of salt. Of COURSE there isn’t much interest in a CDMA iPhone right now (as compared to, say, a year ago) becuase now you have people waiting for the white iPhone (here!), an LTE iPhone, and rumors of a new iPhone to launch in a few months.

With all that in consideration, I lost MY interest in the CDMA iPhone too.

  • Al

I switched from AT&T and I love my Verizon iPhone. I love the fact that I’m no longer limited to 2gb’s of data and the fact that I can actually have a conversation for longer than 2 minutes without dropping a call. I paid the early termination fee to AT&T but I didn’t care. Verizon really rules the air, and yes I can hear you now!!!

    • Al

Sorry, I did not realize this post posted numerous times.

bring the ruim cdma, and it will be the global device too, so we in asia can switch carrier as easy as gsm. Injected way = drop dead tech.

    • Yup sounds like fucked the pooch on this one huh?

  • jabanayot

anyone want to stop and think that the reason they might be stoping production of iphone 4 is because they might be producing other types of iphone…

    • SpideyRules

Can you please point out WHERE WHO said they were STOPPING production of the iPhone 4??

    • Josh

Jabanayot: Are you stupid? Why would they stop producing the iPhone 4?!

  • iPhoneuser16

  • Steve1010
