We just informed you that Apple had released iOS 4.3.2, and as usual we want to make it clear that if you want to preserve your jailbreak or your unlock, you have to stay away from the latest firmware update.

Jailbreak veterans know this very well so this message is more for the casual jailbreakers than advanced users. If you update your jailbroken iPhone, it will patch the jailbreak and you will not be able to use any jailbreak apps or even unlock until a new jailbreak method is released…

Either a beginner or an advanced user, you should make sure to save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella. In the eventuality that you’d want to downgrade to a previous firmware later on, this quick operation will make that possible. Not sure what SHSH blobs are? Check out our article about it.

I’m good. Verizon iPhone means no worries on faulty updates lol

  • Dodgerdeezy

There should be no warnings about this stuff. If your dumb enough to upgrade then u shouldn’t have a Jb phone. If u read this blog then u most likely have a Jb phone and should not need a warning. Sorry iPhone newbies.

    • You probably didn’t start as an iPhone expert, did you? Let’s give a chance to everyone to spread the jb love 😉

  • Dodgerdeezy

Actually I did. I have been jailbreaking since day one. It used to be more underground and not so in your face. I understand your point but all I’m saying is it is not nessesary to put WARNING TO JAILBREAKERS as the subject. It should be more suddle like: apple realeases 4.3.2 and maybe in the article put, if u have a Jb phone, you should hold off. But instead it’s like top news story. I feel like this blog is geared toward people who know a bit more than the average Joe about iPhones and the posts should correspond.

    • I hear you. But this blog is geared toward any iPhone owner, no matter if they are jailbreak veterans or noobies. Just trying to help as many people as possible. I understand that the big warning wasn’t necessary for 90% of iDB readers, but I want to make sure the 10% remaining knows what’s going on.

Keep up the good work F*** the haters if they have such a problem start your own blog! This does need to be a warning, I know all about jailbreaking, and the #1 reason I come to this site is to see if a new firmware has been released and if it’s been hacked.

      Suddle? Lol

      • Jack

        It’s subtle. Jack ass

I’m new to iPhone and jailbreaking. Should i hold off from Updating my Verizon iPhone to 4.2.7

    • G

      • January

  • Eddy

I’m still on 4.2.1 Can I update to 4.3.1 or is it too late?

    • Burge

If you have got your SHSHs 4.2.1 then you should gave your SHSHs for 4.3.1 and you know how to use tinyumbrella then yes …Loom on this site on how to use tinyumbrella and what you need to do…it’s not hard just take your time

  • luis.dr.wireless@gmail.com

ATTN:I UPDATED TO 4.3.2 AND I INSTALLED CYDIA AND EVERTHING IS GOOD SOFARE AND THIS IS WHAT I DID .I INSTALLED REDSNOW (I DONT NEED AN UNLOCK) THE LATEST VERSION AND I USED IPSW4.3.1 AND THEN CYDIA WAS THERE BUT IT WAS WHITE AND IT WOULDN’T OPEN SO I RAN IT AGAIN AND THE I JUST CLICKED ON TETHER BOOT AND EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT SO WITH THAT SAID HOPE THIS HELPS WITH ANYTHING AND I HAVE TO REBOOT IT WITH REDSNOW IF I POWER IT OFF. I WILL TRY MORE THINGS ON THE PHONE AND IM ON AN IPHONE 4 32GB UM ILL TRY PWNAGETOOL TO SEE WHAT HAPPENDS SORRY FOR ALL THE CAPS

    • QuarterSwede

That’s because the tethered boot is using an exploit in the hardware. There is no way for Apple to patch it besides putting out a new bootrom (like on the 3GS) and modifying the current hardware. Thanks for trying to be helpful but what people want is an untethered jailbreak.

  • JimmyK

I’m due to get a replacement iPhone 4 from apple on Sunday do you think it will be 4.3.2 or 4.3.1?? I’m really hoping 4.3.1 so I can still jailbreak but can anyone clear this up for me please?

    • Burge

I would it thought you would get 4.3.1

      • JimmyK

I really hope so, cant live without my jb! 🙂

  • luis.dr.wireless@gmail.com

i cant get ipsw4.3.2 that any sw can read

  • Doug

You always mention saving your SHSH blobs and have a million articles on how to do it af why to do it. But WTF do you do with them to actually go back to an older firmware. That’s an article I want to see. I save my blobs w Tiny umbrella every single time before I upgrade but Idk what to do w them.

  • luis.dr.wireless@gmail.com

IT SO YOU CAN DOWNGRADE BACK LIKE IT WAS B4

    • Doug

I know what it does but how?? Do you just click on them. Do you have to restore your phone w them. Do you need to download a program then just select them and it does it. Do you Ssh into your phone and change a file w them. Is it something in iTunes.

Seriously how do you do it. Find it dumb they always say to save them and link to all the articles they’ve written up on it but don’t tell you what to do once youve upgraded and then want to downgrade.

      • QuarterSwede
      • XepptizZ

You basicly restore the apple way with a backuP ipsw file or a downloaded one with the firmware you want. To select a custom restore: connect iphone>press shift and click restore. Apple determins if your device is all

      • XepptizZ

Allowed a restore depending on your shsh blobs. Thats how i understand it.

  • DesertEagle

I got a replacement and it has 4.3 on it. I havent saved any SHSHS or anything. I wanna upgrade to 4.3.1, am I shit out of luck?

    • QuarterSwede

You’ll have to download the 4.3.1 FW from somewhere (iClarified should have it) besides iTunes and make sure you update it today or use TinyUmbrella to save 4.3.1 blobs (you don’t have to be running it). Apple should still be signing 4.3.1 for a little while but not much longer.

  • DesertEagle

I have 4.3.1 on my computer. How do I make itunes install that instead of the new one?

    • XepptizZ

Download the ipsw from this blogs download section, in itunes press shift + restore
