iOS 4.3.1 to Improve Battery Life?

by Sebastien on Mar 23, 2011

As we reported last week, iOS 4.3 comes with serious battery drains for some users. While I haven’t updated my iPhone 4 to 4.3 yet (I need my unlock), I can tell that the battery on my iPad 2 4.3 isn’t that great at all.

The guys over at BGR got their hands on a 4.3.1 build and were didn’t see anything new in there, besides the fact that battery life seems a bit better. They didn’t conduct any kind of scientific test on it so it’s hard to verify if battery is indeed better… Read More

by Sebastien on Mar 23, 2011

Five days and over 145,000 signatures later, Apple finally pulled the Exodus International app from the App Store. As harmless as it looked on the surface, the app dubbed as “Gay Cure” was terribly offensive, especially to the gay community.

A representative for Exodus International says “Our mission is to reach those with unwanted same-sex attractions and help them to reconcile their sexuality with their faith”…  Read More

Sprint Doesn’t Like AT&T’s Acquisition of T-Mobile, Sides With Google

by Alex Heath on Mar 23, 2011

Sprint, the nation’s third largest wireless provider, is not happy about AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile. Once AT&T and T-Mobile are officially merged, the only major players in the U.S. wireless space will be AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.

The problem is, Sprint isn’t that much of a “big player” anymore. The network has been falling behind the success of AT&T and Verizon (both of which sell the iPhone), and there isn’t much traction left for Sprint to make a dent in AT&T and Verizon’s market share.

The iPhone Killed T-Mobile

by Sebastien on Mar 23, 2011

Unless you live under a rock, you probably know by now that AT&T is in the process of buying out T-Mobile for $39 billion. According to T-Mobile execs themselves, the US branch of Deutsche Telekom was not doing very well financially speaking, and this is all the iPhone’s fault.

According to the NY Times, things started going downhill for T-Mobile US in 2007, when customers would leave T-Mobile by the boatload to get on AT&T who was the only one selling the iPhone at the time. I was actually one of those people who left T-Mobile for the iPhone… Read More

At first we hoped the iPhone 5 would have NFC technology, then we were told Apple wasn’t considering NFC yet. Now it appears that the next iPhone will in fact have NFC technology for mobile payments.

Multiple reports from sources like The New York Times and China Times reveal that Apple is working hard to implement NFC into the iPhone. Near Field Communication technology would allow consumers to use the iPhone as a mobile payment option, and the technology would most likely tie into the already-existing iTunes payment infrastructure.
