Late last month, developer Peter Hajas introduced MobileNotifier, a complete replacement of Apple’s aging iOS notifications system. The jailbreak tweak became incredibly popular, showing how much iPhone owners are longing for a better notifications system.

Following MobileNotifier comes another alternative to the iOS notifications system courtesy of the jailbreak community, called iconNotifier.

iconNotifier brings a whole new and unique concept for notifications to the iPhone. Instead of pop-up alerts or a notifications list, iconNotifier will reroute app notifications and display the notification message right under the appropriate app icon on your home screen.

Currently, the tweak only works with the following iOS applications:

  • Phone
  • VoiceMail
  • SMS
  • Push
  • Calendar
  • Alarm
  • Timer
  • LowPower
  • iPod
  • Popup blocker

No new icons are added to your home screen and there are currently no options to configure the tweak. The tweak is available in the Cydia Store for $2.99.

Here’s a video demonstration of the tweak in action:

Anyone try it yet? If so, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!

  • I think it would be a little bit better if there was a setting to slow down the speed of the scrolling under the icon. Also another tweak to use with this to make it a bit better is Notified Pro.

is not working on my iphone4;(

get LockInfo instead, it lets u customize ur lockscreen, also, shows the notification history.

  • Why Apple doesn’t put notifications on the icons?

Because its obnoxious to see several scrolling notifications at various speeds and directions.

I like this but my only concern is, will this cause my phone to crash like the Mobile Notifier did. When I had Mobile Notifier installed it caused almost every one of my apps to crash including Cydia. I tried restarting the phone several times and nothing. The difficult part was uninstalling it without Cydia crashing. That god for SSH

I’ve been helping the dev with this not working for some ..there is now a update for this …go update …

  • Sd

    nice tweak…which wallpaper is that?

  • I don’t think I would be able to read half the notifications, and I can see this causing issues with themes, and a ton of other MobileSubstrate add-ons.

It has now been fixed ..I hope I’ve spent all day help the dev with this ….

That just looks obnoxious and too busy. I prefer to use Notified Pro and pull it down from the status bar. I also have the nbfn bar that has a scrolling popup up top for new notifications. Perfection.

Actually opening tha app isn’t anymore hassle than the scrolling text under the appicon. I feel much more for a centralized menu woth all the notifications and a quicklaunch to the app.

Yeah it’s pretty but … if it’s not a bug, it also blocks sounds ! and lockscreen pop-ups !
so if my phone is locked, and I got a calendar appointment with alarm for example, I simply miss it if i don’t look the icon… I don’t think that’s a smart move

  • YonG

@!G Yeah,i agree with you,it’s should not blocked sound and pop-ups notification! Otherwise we will miss our message or appointment.
