The jailbreak community holds its breath as iOS hackers work diligently on a 4.3 jailbreak solution. With their latest firmware, Apple introduced ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization), which is making the process a little more difficult for jailbreakers. Current jailbreak methods are available, but are extremely limited.

But things look positive as hackers Comex and i0n1c have already shown off their jailbroken iOS 4.3 devices. Now you might be wondering, “If they can jailbreak their devices, why don’t they just release it to everyone?” Well, when these guys jailbreak their devices, they don’t plug their iPhone into the computer and click a button….

Once an exploit is found, they have to test it out, make sure it’s stable. Then they need to write software that’s easy enough for the average joe to use, and make sure that it is stable. But nevertheless we hold vigilant. Especially interested are those who upgraded to iOS 4.3 early (despite our warnings), and early iPad 2 adopters.

The man behind Infinidock and the co-creator of ProSwitcher, chpwn, shed a bit more light on the topic today via Twitter. While he dismisses the Pwn2Own exploits as a jailbreak solution, he does note that comex, i0n1c, and p0sixninja have “other cool stuff.” With three hackers closing in, hopefully an official jailbreak release is on pace to be released this week. As always, stay tuned to iDB for the latest jailbreak information.

Does anyone think we’ll see the jailbreak this week?

I’m disappointed on the new firmware I should of listen to the warning but I have high hopes on the new jailbrake coming soon thanks you guys

I can Wait.I’m loving my Jailbreak on 4.2.1 so I’m n No Rush, Not to mention I’m not going to use my iPad2 until there’s a Jailbreak so I don’t mind using my iPad1.

  • Shrike1978

I’d personally wait a while on this one, even after it drops. ASLR is going to play hell with MobileSubstrate extensions, and a resonable person might want to wait for a few weeks to make sure everything is working right before taking the plunge.

It’ll be cool if the 4.3 jb rolls out side by side with Cydia 1.1. I think that would be worth doing the jb. But like everyone else, I’m pretty happy with 4.2 right now. I can hold out until everything gets worked out on 4.3.

    • Shrike1978

No reason to rejailbreak for Cydia. When it updates, it’ll be presented as an update in Cydia.

I can’t wait, since i lost/got robbed my iPhone 4, I had to reorder another one, and that means it’s coming with 4.3 =__=, but now with this great news I can have hop again. Also and hopefully an unlock for 4.3/4.3.1 can come soon too xD

    • Ke1ington

It’s actually more likely that your new phone will come with 4.2.1. 4.3 hasn’t been out long enough to be the default firmware for new devices. They would have to go through a whole lot of shrink-wrap to accomplish that.

    • Manuel

Yeah, 4.3 won’t be on your device. Don’t worry, and if it is, try to downgrade if the window is still open. Not sure if it us or not, so don’t quote me.

      • ron

its not open. apple stopped signing 4.2.1 over the weekend sometime for all devices that can run 4.3.

  • Noobiphone

Congrats on both Comex and i0n1c
I think this time comex is gonna name it *jailbreakyou*

  • Pretty sure there will be a again. Great news.

  • Binary-Stalker

Is MobileSubstrate ever going to work on 4.3? If not, I’ll just downgrade to 4.1 or 4.2.1.

  • azharhamzahya

    Good news.Thanks guys

  • Georg W. Bush

I wanna Jailbreak my iPad 2 I really don’t care for the iPhone 4 4.3 jailbreak.

  • brian

how do you downgrade your firmware? i just downloaded 4.3 by accident on my ipod touch andi want it back at 4.2.1

    • brian

You would of needed to save your blobs with tinyumbrella / cydia

    • Binary-Stalker

If you pressed ‘Make My Life Easier’ in Cydia when you first used it, you’re fine. You can downgrade to that firmware.

    • G

How the fuck do you upgrade by accident. Are you kidding me!!?

  • Naji

    Before jailbreaking 4.3
Please find a solution to bb 2.10

    • Binary-Stalker

There are multiple teams working on such a thing.

    • Shrike1978

These are really entirely different skill sets. These skill sets do overlap in some people, but not nearly as much as people have in their heads. As visible as MuscleNerd is in the community, he basically does not work on jailbreaks. He’s pretty much exclusively baseband (unlock). He’s very deeply embedded and has a lot of information on all parts of the community, which makes him a good source of info, but he’s not going to be the one working on the jailbreak. In the same token, you aren’t ever going to see an unlock come from Comex or p0sixninja, because they don’t have the right skill set for it. Geohot was a rare breed…had his hands in pretty much everything, but he’s not typical at all.

In case you missed the point of all of this, working on one will in no way slow the other down. Let the hackers use their skills appropriately and stop whining about something you’re getting for free.

  • nmdelrio

There’s nothing really that I want on 4.3 to upgrade, then on;y wait for a stable jailbreak, and risk cydia apps not fully compatible with 4.3. I’m in no rush to jump into 4.3.

  • ali

    • G

The newest tinyumbrella should kick an idevice out of recovery.

  • PhittyPois0n

Yep we excited alrite, but the unlock has to come out soon after as well so that we can update to the latest iOS

  • Pam
