Apple to Customers: “You Don’t Have to Hold it Wrong Anymore”

by Sebastien on Feb 15, 2011

If you’re in the US and go to Apple’s website right now, you’ll probably going to be greeted by the image of 2 iPhones: the AT&T one, and the newly released Verizon iPhone. If you have a closer look at this image, you can see that the position of the hand is different from one phone to the other.

The hand barely touches the AT&T iPhone, whereas it is fully gripping the Verizon iPhone. So, is Apple trying to tell us something? Read More

by Alex Heath on Feb 15, 2011

Now that Verizon carries the iPhone 4 on its CDMA network, there is a new way to compare iPhone data speeds with AT&T’s infrastructure.

People have been comparing the Verizon and AT&T iPhone’s data speeds, and CNET has posted a very detailed comparison of how the two networks compete with each other on the iPhone. The results weren’t that surprising; Verizon seemed to do better than AT&T in almost every way

The tethering plan will remain at $20/month and DataPro will also keep the same pricing of $25/month. In short, you get more for the same price… Read More

An iPhone 5 with a Slideout Keyboard?

by Sebastien on Feb 14, 2011

tw.Apple.pro, a Taiwanese website that has a pretty good track record of publishing leaked information about Apple products, claims today that Cupertino has been evaluating 3 different hardware prototypes of the iPhone 5, one of them including a slideout keyboard.

A second prototype apparently would be what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G: a similar-looking but improved model. This version of the iPhone 5 would be the same as the iPhone 4, but would have a bigger battery and an improved camera lens… Read More

Signs Point to a February 28 Release of iOS 4.3

by Sebastien on Feb 14, 2011

If you’ve been patiently waiting for iOS 4.3, this might come as a good or bad news, depending on how you look at it. If that’s any indication of the future iOS 4.3 release, the fine folks of this German website came across information that suggests Apple’s latest iOS might be available to the general public on February 28.

This speculation is based on the fact that The Daily iPad app which was having a free trial until today, extended their trial period to February 28. Because The Daily is supposed to come on a subscription model which will be only available on iOS 4.3, it is safe to believe this firmware will come out on or around 2/28/11… Read More

by Kickstar13 on Feb 14, 2011

Another day, another reason to jailbreak your iPhone if you haven’t already. The latest tweak is called PhoneHint. PhoneHint lets you do a quick contact search right inside the iPhone dialer.

Here’s how it works. Simply, swipe left to right over the dialer’s number display to select the right contact, then double tap to select the number. I can see this tweak saving me lots of time, especially when I’m rummaging through my Recent Calls list trying to find the right contact. PhoneHint does not add any new icons to your homescreen and can be configured from the Settings app. Read More

ManualCorrect Puts Your iPhone’s Auto Correct in Check

by Jeff Benjamin on Feb 14, 2011

I don’t believe there’s one feature on the iPhone that angers me as much as auto correct. It’s always misinterpreting what I’m trying to type, usually with ridiculous results.

Auto correct on the iPhone will turn a phrase like “Let’s go have lunch” into “Keep on step eagle.” I know, that makes no sense whatsoever, and that’s my point.

Fortunately for us, the jailbreak community has had enough of this utter nonsense as well, as evident by the release of ManualCorrect
