    No can do. “Boot Animation” is a no show in settings.app. (iPh4 – 4.2.1 w/the GreenPois0n treatment)

    I’m having trouble with this. First, the only way I was able to find BootLogo was by selecting Shatterig Apple logo and selecting the link in the package description. Then when I tried installing BootLogo it first came up with: Error: Returning – Sub-process /user/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1). Then it very quickly switched to another popup saying: /var/cache/apt/archives/orge.chronic-dev.animate_1.0.0-7_iphoneos-arm.dev. Then under that was: trying to overwrite ‘user/bin/animate’, which is also in package imagemagick. I can then return to cydia, but the package didn’t install. Any ideas?

      Did you delete something off your phone after you jail broke. Like a package or something or DEB file? I’m having this issue too, and I did that before I did the same thing you did and think it might be the reason why were having this issue.

        Hmm.. Well I was on 4.0 before this jailbroke via jailbreakme and when I upgraded I used pkgbackup to backup and restore everything and that worked perfectly. I’ve been using my jailbroken 4.2.1 phone for a few days, installing and uninstalling packages via cydia but none come to mind that would do this. But hell, I don’t know.

    This is cool. Not much of a selection though. I think very soon we’ll be seeing stuff like the droid logo and xbox 360 boot screen. Ha.

    Retro apple logos would be cool but for now I’m sticking with the green poison default. Be nice if there was a simple set of tools to make your own

    No boot animation setting for me so I cant do this…and I cant find boot logo or bootlogo in Cydia

      all u gotta do is go to cydia and download a bootlogo any one of the logos and it will aito install the bootlogo option in settings

      Just install something like shatter bootlogo and go from there.

        For everyone who can’t find it. It has it’s own section. It’s says add ons (boot logos) it’s like the second one. Idk why he didn’t say this in the article. You can’t find them w search and you don’t need to add any sources.

    I found bootlogo but it isn’t working, I’m guessing I have to update my GP jailbreak. Anyone know if that’s the issue and do I just re-jailbreak over my GP rc5-b1?

    to get it to work, you’ll likely have to go to /usr/bin and delete animate. then go to the Apple Shattered cydia page and click the link to BootLogo. hit modify, reinstall. now they should work.
    as for the speed problem, the themes on cydia are for retina. that’s too slow on non-retina devices. you have to manually find the .png files (/Library/BootLogos/logoname/) and edit them to be of a lower resolution.

    To make a custom animation, go to /Library/BootLogos. Make a new folder. In the folder put your images(.pngs) Names should be 0.png, 1.png, 2.png,etc. If you dont want the apple logo in the first few seconds, copy the 0 file into /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app, then rename it AppleLogo.png. You will have to delete the original file.

    iretiner may have something to do with it not working for some people.. when i installed iretiner i recall it downloading imagemagik as well. when i installing the bootlogo package, it couldnt write to the usr/bin/animate because of the imagemagik file/folder.

    Iretiner was it! Thanks Luke, that fixed my problem! I had to also go to the imagemagick and remove that, but it worked!

    Why not jailbreak when the tool is available for you . Just follow the train and don’t fall behind updating makes your phone better with all the bug fixes and the 4.2.1 will give you the benefit to find your iPhone in case you lose it .

    Just to let everyone know here that your are not really changing your BootLogo The real BootLogo can’t be changed Like on the 3.1.3 or the 4.0 ios When your phone starts the phone flashes the image for 5sec. the a regular image of the apple logo pops up which you wont notice and thats what this tweak dose is change that image. From 4.1 and on in order for the ios to run correctly the phone must flash the apple logo in order to start.

    I dont need to install anything and the apple logo changed to GP logo automatically after a few seconds when I reboot my iphone..

    Just instal one of the logos in the addons section and bootleg will instal to.

    None of the boot logo add ons work on 4.2.1. I installed a few and it always stays on the greenpoison/apple logo when I reboot

      You have to look in ur settings on ur phone and u will see bootlogo then check the one u dl reboot ur dun

      im not sure… i would prefer retina icons, but if you really want that *awesome* boot logo, you may just have to remove iretiner from cydia altogether.

    Are these logos supposed to be kind of slow? I know some of them say 5 fps, is there a way to activate that? I downloaded the shattering apple one and such and they work, but they just seem sluggish like they move slowly.

    Mine is unbelievedly slow, almost unusable, it even carries on after my ipod has booted which makes it flash lots. I hope there is a way to make it faster but i doubt it :-P

    Alright so I jailbroke using redsnow, running 4.3.1. I used to be able to change the bootlogo in settings but now it says “unable to change boot logo” what do I do!

    I’ve been trying to get these bootlogos to work for me now for quite a while. I’ve looked on many different sites, but I sill can’t figure out what the problem is. I’m running version 4.2.1 and I jailbroke using greenpoison. I’ve installed many different boot logos through cydia hoping that the bootlogo animation app would install, but it hasn’t. I’m not sure what else I can do.

    I installed bootlogo on my iphone 3G, jailbroken with 4.2.1 on redsn0w but when I reboot, in only apears the stock bootlogo and then it becomes brighter but don’t change.
    why is that?

    I have a jailbroken iphone 4s 5.0.1 and i cant seem to get my boot logos to work.. I have tried many of them and they dont work .. The regular apple logo Always appears.. I have done it to my ipod 4 gen and they work.. Does anyone know what the problem might be.. Could it be that i need to download a special source?
