Need More Evidence That the White iPhone 4 is Right Around the Corner?

by Jeff Benjamin on Jan 24, 2011

We’ve heard numerous reports, claims, and rumors about the white iPhone 4′s inevitable release, but nothing ever panned out. Recently, however, the tide seems to be turning and the rumors are looking a lot more credible.

You no doubt read our report on Best Buy’s inventory system, which lists Apple’s mythical product as being due in late February. Now another important Apple partner is giving the white iPhone rumors signs of life.

The latest partner to re-list the white iPhone 4 is none other than AT&T. If that doesn’t lend credence to the rumor, then nothing will…

‘No Clock Status’ is the Perfect Jailbreak Tweak For People Who Loathe Tiny Clocks

by Jeff Benjamin on Jan 24, 2011

Hot on the heels of ‘No Rotation Status‘ — A jailbreak tweak that removes the rotation lock icon from your status bar — comes No Clock Status. Can anyone guess what No Clock Status does?

Flavor Flav might not be amused, but for those of you who are seeking to eek out every pixel of status bar real estate, this could be just what the doctor ordered…

How to Uninstall Unstable Apps When Cydia Won’t Open

by Nick on Jan 24, 2011

Sometimes we install apps out of curiosity only to discover that they are unstable on our device. In some cases, it’s an app developed for a specific iPhone or iPad model. In other cases, the app is only compatible with certain firmware versions. Other times you may have installed conflicting tweaks.

Whatever the reason may be, here is a fix for a constantly crashing Springboard with no way to open Cydia to uninstall unstable apps. If your iPhone boots to the lock screen, but crashes if you do anything beyond that, this guide will help you to remove problematic packages without Cydia.

Simple, Cloud-Synced Task Management With ‘Wunderlist’ for iPhone

by Alex Heath on Jan 24, 2011

Luckily, there are plenty of great options for task management on the iPhone. (Check out iDB’s roundup of 5 awesome task management apps.)

Wunderlist, by 6wunderkinder, is a sleek and robust task management solution for the iPhone and Mac. Wunderlist is simple and easy to use, and it can also be used as a collaborative, over-the-cloud task management solution. A full-featured, sync-able desktop and mobile task management suite would normally have a price tag wouldn’t it? (I love Things by Culture Code, but the desktop and iPhone app combined cost me $60.)

Wunderlist is totally free for both the desktop and iOS version. Let’s see what the app has to offer…

Woman Hangs Up on $10,000 iTunes Gift Card Phone Call

by Jeff Benjamin on Jan 24, 2011

When Orpington, England resident Gail Davis tapped “install” to download Paper Glider, she got a free game. Unbeknownst to her, the install also yielded her a $10,000 iTunes gift card; the result of being the 10 billionth app downloaded in the history of the App Store.

I guess you could say that Davis had impeccable timing. Unfortunately her timing skills didn’t carry over to an extremely timely phone call; one from Eddy Cue, Apple’s VP of iTunes.

You see, Davis mistakenly perceived the phone call to be nothing more than a prank, so she hung up the phone…

Want an Off-Contract Verizon iPhone? Prepare to Pay More Than You Would With AT&T

by Jeff Benjamin on Jan 23, 2011

At the end of the day, the Verizon iPhone 4 is just an iPhone 4. Sure, it of course contains a few changes; changes like a CDMA chip, and subtle adjustments to the antenna arrangement, but in essence, it’s still just a normal iPhone 4.

In fact, the iPhone 4 is likely cheaper to manufacture for Apple, as all products generally fall in price as revisions are made, and cheaper parts become available. That’s just the normal lifecycle of any mass produced electronics product. They don’t get more expensive to make, they become cheaper.

So why is Verizon having users pony up an extra $50 dollars in order to purchase an off-contract and non-subsidized iPhone for use on their network?

Verbs for iPhone – There’s Finally An IM App That Apple Would Be Proud Of

by Alex Heath on Jan 23, 2011

There’s a new iPhone IM client on the block. Verbs, by #include tech software, is a simple and beautiful IM app that looks like it was designed by Apple itself.

There are a ton of IM apps on the App Store (IM+, BeejiveIM, fring, AIM and Yahoo! Messenger to name a few).  I’ve used many, and honestly, most of them look pretty awful. I was so excited when I saw the Verbs design mockups several months ago, and the app recently received an update in the App Store that makes it definitely worth reviewing.

While I’m not someone who constantly relies on instant messaging to communicate, I do see the benefit of having a solid IM app on the iPhone for occasionally hopping on Google Talk. The good thing is that Verbs has more to offer than just good looks…

Best Frienemies Verizon and AT&T Featured in iPhone 4 Commercial

by Jeff Benjamin on Jan 23, 2011

Fierce rivals AT&T and Verizon were featured in a commercial together to prove the point that two is better than one. If one didn’t know the backstory, it would almost appear that the two rival networks were cool with each other.

Only a company like Apple could pull something like this off. Can you imagine any other phone warranting a commercial that includes a cameo from two competing networks like AT&T and Verizon? I don’t think so.

Check inside for the full commercial…

Isaac Newton’s Gravity Will Bring Even the Smartest Gamers Back to Earth

by Michael on Jan 23, 2011

Isaac Newton’s Gravity [iTunes Link] was created by Namco and is an intuitive physics puzzler in which you will need to successfully guide a ball across a board to hit a switch.

Each level will give you different shaped pieces such as cubes or blocks to place on a map. You will select each piece by simply tapping on it and then rotating it in any direction.

Next, drag, drop and place it on the map. Once all of the pieces are set, hit the play button and your ball will roll out and hopefully reach it’s destination…
