How This Kid Made Over $130,000 Selling Authentic White iPhone Parts

by Sebastien on Nov 18, 2010

You gotta love America, the land of freedom and entrepreneurship, a land where anyone can be an overnight success and make the headlines. But America is also the land of lawsuits. 17 year-old Fei Lam is just about to know both the fun side and the not-so-fun side of being an entrepreneur in the US.

This kid form Queens, NY has been selling white iPhone 4 conversion kits using parts he acquired directly from a source close to the Foxconn’s iPhone factory in China. Selling from $135 to $279, these kits have made Fei Lam over $130,000 in the last few weeks. Everything was doing fine until he received an email from a private investigator… Read More

Path, The Personally “Personal” Social Network

by Alex Heath on Nov 18, 2010

A new social network startup has been getting lots of attention over the past few days. I say “social network” with hesitation. Path is a San Franciso-based startup with some high profile employees from the tech industry. Dave Morin, the former senior platform manager at Facebook, is the company’s CEO. Shawn Fanning, the co-founder of Napster, is also heavily involved in the project. Kevin Rose, of Digg fame, is an investor.

Don’t let the attractive and mysterious woman in Path’s web banner fool you, you won’t find her on Path. In fact, you won’t find many people at all. Because Path only lets you have 50 friends…

by Sebastien on Nov 17, 2010

The guys at BoxWave know you’re dying to get a physical keyboard on your iPhone so they came up with a nifty little accessory called the Keyboard Buddy Case.

The Keyboard Buddy Case is a case for your iPhone 4 that also includes an integrated slide-out Bluetooth keyboard. Unlike the Nuu, you just have to slide the keyboard to make it appear, just like you would on one of those Android phones.

Looking at the pictures, I have to admit that this thing doesn’t look as bad as it sounds… Read More

Hulu+ For iDevices Officially Launches, Lowers Price

by Guest Author on Nov 17, 2010

If you’ve been mulling over a Hulu+ subscription or waiting for the elusive preview invite, you might be interested to know Hulu+ has exited preview mode to officially launch and has lowered its price from $9.99 to $7.99/month. The two dollar decrease is likely attributed to Hulu trying to compete more with Netflix, which has made clear they are shifting towards a streaming-based service as priority, as users continue to use the DVD-by-mail feature to a lesser extent.

You can download Hulu+ in the App Store for your iPhone 4 or iPad. But what about those of you that have already been using Hulu+ at the original price? They have good news for you, too…

OMG Steve Jobs Emailed Me for My Birthday [OMG]

by Sebastien on Nov 17, 2010

So today is my 30th and I thought it’d be nice to have birthday wishes from Steve Jobs. So I emailed and asked him if he’d mind wishing me a happy birthday. Just minutes later I received this reply from him. Amazing. Unbelievable. I know Steve and I had our rough moments in the past so I honestly didn’t expect a reply back from him.

There is something wrong with this email though, but I can’t figure out what it is exactly. Is there anything out of place in there?

One last thing… Don’t tell me it’s a fake, because it’s not… Not!

Apple’s new iPhone 4 TV ad titled “Longer” has been airing for a couple of days now. It makes an emphasis on the great battery life, telling you that the iPhone 4 new lithium polymer battery lets you work, play, and talk longer.

I do believe the iPhone 4 battery is a great improvement from the iPhone 3GS’. I can now go through a day of average usage without having to charge the battery at every occasion I have… Read More

This Application Requires the iPhone 3.2 Software Update?

by Sebastien on Nov 17, 2010

One of my Twitter buddies sent me a screenshot of an error he is currently getting on his iPhone when trying to download a certain application from the App Store. Every time he tries to download VLC, his iPhone tells him that this application is not compatible and that he needs to update his iPhone to iOS 3.2.

Obviously the strange part is there is no such thing as iOS 3.2. There never was and there never will. So why does his iPhone tell him he needs the 3.2 software update? Read More

by Alex Heath on Nov 17, 2010

The official Twitter app for iPhone and iPad was just updated to support native push notifications for @mentions and direct messages. Push notifications can be enabled in a new pane for your account settings.

Push notifications for  the Twitter app (and what was formerly Tweetie) has been a highly desired feature for a very long time. I’m sure we’re all glad that Twitter has finally gotten around to implementing a feature that should have been part of the app when it was first released… Read More
