by Sebastien on Oct 20, 2010

The PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone iOS 4.1 is out and available for download! It was supposed to be released last Sunday but it didn’t for unknown reasons. This new version of PwnageTool will jailbreak the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4. PwnageTool will also work for the iPod Touch 3G and 4G. Additionally, it will work with the iPad and the new Apple TV.

LimeRa1n and GreenPois0n have been released over a week ago. The difference between these jailbreaks and PwnageTool is that PwnageTool will preserve your baseband. This is crucial for iPhone owners who want to unlockRead More

App Review: Trainyard

by Michael on Oct 20, 2010

Trainyard is a puzzle game created by Matt Rix. One might easily look over Trainyard as another useless game for the iDevices because it doesn’t really feature cute characters and fun animation. With all the apps that are being developed these days, if the screenshot doesn’t look good I usually pass.

But digging a little deeper (albeit with the help of some great iTunes App Store Rankings and thousands of five star reviews!), players will be surprised at the level of depth this puzzle game provides… Read More

Zero Out iPhone Free Space with iWipe

by Guest Author on Oct 20, 2010

iWipe is a utility that zeros out free space on iDevices.

A common misconception about storage devices is when a file is deleted, it’s permanently deleted. This is not correct. Only the reference to that space on the storage device is removed preserving the real data on the sectors of the drive. The same concept applies when you restore your iDevice. This is called a low level format.

Last year, I heard reports that Apple was issuing refurbished 3GS devices with data of the previous owner still preserved. Whether this was rumor or fact, I didn’t want to risk selling my devices with the risk of my personal data still preserved…  Read More

App Review – Font Monsters

by Guest Author on Oct 20, 2010

This game takes me back to when I was in art class in school. Our assignment was to use fonts to create people, animals or things. With Font Monsters, aliens made up of letters are trying to invade Earth. Your mission? Blast letters that they’re made up of at them to destroy them.

Actually Font Monsters is starting to remind me of Typing Of The Dead (spin off of House Of The Dead), but instead of going through the level and finding the monsters, you’re stationary while the monsters come to you. If you guess, or press the incorrect letter it is made up of, it will blast a letter at you that you have to shoot down before it reaches you…  Read More

This is a Jailbroken Apple TV

by Sebastien on Oct 19, 2010

We already knew the Apple TV could be jailbroken but until now we hadn’t seen any actual proof of it. Well consider this image your proof then. It was tweeted a few minutes ago by hacker p0sixninja.

As you can see there is a new option added to the Apple TV that lets you “inject software”, which probably will be a way to install apps or mods.

There is no ETA for this jailbreak and most importantly, there might not even be a single jailbreak apps for it yet. Stay tuned… I’ll keep you posted.

Is This the Verizon iPhone 4?

by Jeff Benjamin on Oct 19, 2010

A blog by the name of Richy Rich has posted what they claim to be spy-photo’s of the upcoming CDMA Version of the iPhone 4, which is reportedly heading to Verizon in the near future. The device in the shots are said to be running a test operating system, which is a lot like what we saw from the GSM version of the iPhone 4, when photos of it inevitably leaked online earlier this year.

The blog also reports that the new CDMA iPhone 4 will retain its GSM micro-sim slot, which would indicate that the device could become a genuine “world phone” were it to be unlocked.  A few already existing phones on Verizon’s network, most notably those in the Blackberry line, already offer dual CDMA and GSM connectivity…

This is the Best Way to Hold Your iPad

by Sebastien on Oct 19, 2010

The Hand-E-Holder is the best way to make sure you will never drop your iPad. Ever!

The Hand-e-holder is a simple device that consists of two parts: an adhesive disk applied to the back of your iPad, and a strap that looks vaguely like a biking glove and fits snuggly around your hand. You can then attach the disk to the holder and securely carry the iPad around with a single hand, without any worry about it slipping out of your fingers when you’re not paying attention.

Selling at $40, that might not be a bad investment, especially for those of you who move around a lot with your iPad.

Next iPhone in Final Field Testing Stage, CDMA on the Way

by Alex Heath on Oct 19, 2010

Boy Genius Report has reported (from an inside source at Apple) that the new CDMA iPhone has reached final testing stages. There is no confirmation that this iPhone is specifically intended for Verizon, but CDMA compatibility is almost a given. The above image is of the rumored device, which BGR says may contain a SIM card slot…

About two months ago, John Gruber broke the story that the CDMA iPhone was in “Engineering Verification Testing” (EVT) status. One month ago, Apple Insider reported that Apple is apparently planning on building 3 million CDMA iPhones by December.

Here’s the newest story from the CDMA iPhone rumor mill: Read More

App Review: Cut the Rope

by Michael on Oct 19, 2010

Cut The Rope was developed by ZeptoLab and is an ingenious puzzle game which features addictive game play at its best. This concept is simple, strategically cutting ropes (with a swipe of your finger) dangling with candy to feed a green monster named “Om Nom.”

Game play almost seems endless with 100 diverse levels, which are divided into 4 different boxes. Each box contains 25 levels and to progress to other boxes you must collect a specified number of stars to unlock the next box… Read More

Geohot Has Another Untethered Exploit Up His Sleeve

by Sebastien on Oct 19, 2010

A quick post about a tweet that MuscleNerd sent out a few hours ago explaining that Geohot has another untethered exploit up his sleeve but he didn’t use it so he can save it up for a future iOS update.

This is pretty good news for all iPhone users as it seems no matter what happens when iOS 4.2 comes out, we’ll most likely get a jailbreak pretty quickly. Now if only we could have an unlock…
