Firmware Changer Will Fake Your iPhone Firmware Version Without Updating

by Guest Author on Oct 22, 2010

Here’s another interesting Cydia tweak! Firmware Changer can change your iPhone to iOS 4.1 (or any other one) without updating. Basically, it will not let you update to 4.1, but it will fake to be on 4.1 (or any other version you want to pretend to be on).

Why would you want change your firmware version? You can use it so that whenever your connect your device to your computer, iTunes will not show this annoying message asking you to update to the latest firmware…  Read More

by Guest Author on Oct 22, 2010

Couple of days back, PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac was released to jailbreak the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV on iOS 4.1. Some Mac OS X 10.5.x users were experiencing issues with this version so the iPhone Dev Team today released PwnageTool 4.1.1 to fix any issues on Mac OS X 10.5.x.

RemindMeLater Puts the Snooze on Your iPhone Calendar Events

by Jeff Benjamin on Oct 22, 2010

Well, surprise, surprise. Here we are with another infamous case of ‘why didn’t Apple think of that?’ In case #1,559, we’re presented with a handy-little jailbreak tweak by the name of RemindMeLater. Its sole purpose in life is to increase the productivity of your procrastination efforts.

In other words, RemindMeLater adds a handy snooze button to your calendar events. And while it’s true that this feature is included in virtually every piece of calendar software known to man, this isn’t the first time that something so obvious has been left on Apple’s cutting room floor.

Would You Pay for a Cydia Pro Version?

by Nick on Oct 22, 2010

Now that I’m running a jailbroken iDevice again, I find myself browsing the Cydia store once again.  With the A4 and more memory, Cydia seems a little bit snappier than my previous generation device, but it’s still a slow experience.  It seems that no matter how much faster Cydia can get, viewing app descriptions will only be as fast as it takes for the sponsored ads to load.

I’m a little curious how much money the repo sites make from the ads in Cydia.  It can’t be that much, because I’ve never clicked one; I’ve also seen devs commenting on how few people click the ads for their free tweaks.  But they’re still there, so they must make something, right?  Read More

Ever wanted to control your Mac from your iPhone while still being able to fully customize everything you can do?  Sure there are remote control apps out there, but many of them require software on both the iPhone and the desktop (and are rarely free).

Brett Terpstra has developed a working PHP script called HomeControl that will let you control your Mac from within Mobile Safari.  The experience has a native iPhone look and feel and it mimics the iOS UI controls…  Read More

App Review: Take Five

by Alex Heath on Oct 22, 2010

I love it when a simple app idea is executed beautifully. Take Five, by the Iconfactory, is no exception. The idea is simple. Take Five is intended to solve a problem that occurs often for certain types of people. When I say “certain types of people,” I mean forgetful ones (aren’t we all to some degree). The app does one thing and one thing well; it controls a timer for your music.

The scenario that Iconfactory uses on the Take Five site is a scenario that most of us have probably been through. You’re listening to your music while you’re doing work, you are either interrupted or distracted, then you eventually return to your work and forget to turn your music back on. Hours later you realize you’ve been listening to silence. That sounds like a pretty trivial problem, right? Well, it seems to me that the most frustrating problems in life are the repetitive and trivial ones. Take Five plans on fixing at least one of those problems…

GreenPois0n First Impressions: the 4.1 Bugs

by Nick on Oct 21, 2010

As soon as the Mac version of GreenPois0n came out, I went ahead and jailbroke my device.  It wasn’t the same eye-candy that JailbreakMe was, or even Comex’s first jailbreak, but it worked and I didn’t have to wait long.  Here’s a few quick things that I immediately noticed.

LockScreen PIN Delay

After a fresh reboot or a respring, I can no longer dive right in to tap the PIN to access my device.  The problem is either a delay or the first tap or two is not recognized.  But it definitely slows me down a little bit… Read More
