iPhone 5 Rumors

by Guest Author on Oct 26, 2010

As most people are aware the next generation of iPhone, iPhone 5 will arrive sometime in 2011. There are rumors already circulating the web that iPhone 5 may be released earlier in the year than previous models for folks that were mid-term in their contract when iPhone 4 was released.

The iPhone 4 released just this summer has already raised the bar by outselling any previous model in opening sales but has had its reported problems. The first one that comes to mind is the issue with the iPhone 4′s signal being hampered when the unit was held a certain way.

I personally think it was just a case of a few thousand units getting through without proper quality control inspection but whatever the issue Apple gave away free cases to resolve the issue.

Apple to Fix Major iPhone Security Hole with iOS 4.2

by Sebastien on Oct 26, 2010

Yesterday we reported that a major security flaw had been found in iOS 4, which would allow anyone to bypass the iPhone password protection with a couple simple actions. In my article I reported that Apple would most likely fix that with the future release of iOS 4.2, sometimes in the next few weeks.

It seems that I was right as an Apple spokeswoman gave Wired the following statement: Read More

Glasklart HD Theme for iPhone 4: Simple and Elegant

by Guest Author on Oct 26, 2010

Since the release of the iPhone 4 and its brilliant Retina Display, the amount of available themes for jailbreakers has been greatly diminished. First, the jailbreak for iOS 4 took some time, and once it happened it seemed no one was quick to convert their existing themes to match the stunning Retina Display quality. A few have started to crop up, now that the jailbreak for iPhone 4 seems permanent.

Themes seemed like a lot of fun when I first jailbroke my iPhone, but they quickly lost their novelty as they were often battery hogs and well, just plain tacky. But sometimes I like to change it up, and now I know the simpler the theme, the better. (Hey, kind of like Apple’s design… imagine that!) Enter the Glasklart HD theme, designed especially for iPhone 4.

Latest Apple Store App Update Features Illusive White iPhone 4

by Jeff Benjamin on Oct 26, 2010

Could this be a sign of the impending release of the white iPhone 4?  In the latest update to Apple’s Store App for the iPhone, which features new concierge integration among other things, the white iPhone 4 is indeed available for reservation.

Whether or not this means that the issues surrounding the product’s production have been completely ironed out, and a release is right around the corner, is of course anyone’s guess. You have to admit, though, it’s certainly an encouraging sign for those who are still holding out…

Elert – iPhone Email Notification

by Guest Author on Oct 26, 2010

We all know one of the biggest gripes about the iPhone is the inefficient notification system, and this frustration is doubled in regards to email because you don’t even get a pop-up message for incoming emails. You hear a ding, the badge number increases and that’s it. Opening the mail app is the only way to see whether you just received another spam message, an email from mom, or an important business email.

What a waste of time, right? Thankfully there’s Elert, a jailbreak app available in the Cydia store for $1.99 plus a short trial period. Elert pops up a small notification window in the lower right hand corner detailing the email’s sender, subject, and a snippet of the first line. It also allows you to expand the window to view the entire email and reply, all without leaving the app you’re in.

by Michael on Oct 26, 2010

A quick look at ‘Super Mega Worm’ may make you think that this was a ported game from the old-school Nintendo. A closer look at Developer’s website (Deceased Pixel), reveals that their whole concept is developing retro games.

A pretty major security hole has been found in iOS 4 for iPhone. This flaw lets you access the contacts of a password protected iPhone. No hack or technical skills needed.

On a password protected iPhone, tap the “Emergency Call” button then enter ###. Tap the Call button and immediately hit the Lock button. It will open your iPhone Contacts app from which you’ll be able to browse, edit, email, any contact.

How to Speed Up Cydia

by Sebastien on Oct 25, 2010

One of the big downsides of Cydia is how slow it is. It usually takes a couple minutes from the time you launch Cydia to the time you can actually download something. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way anymore… There is a simple and quick trick that will incredibly speed up Cydia by removing ads and screenshots in each package.

That means you won’t see any ads anymore, but that also mean you won’t be able to see app screenshots. That’s something I’m willing to sacrifice if it can save me a few seconds here and there. Here is what to do to speed up CydiaRead More
