Google Voice App GV Mobile+ Free For A Few Hours

A quick alert to let you know that GV Mobile+, the Google Voice application by Sean Kovacs is free in the App Store for a few hours. According to Sean's Twitter update, GV Mobile+ will go back to its normal price ($2.99) at around 10pm PST.

GV Mobile+ was released in the App Store last week after Apple loosened up the app approval process. It is the second Google Voice iPhone app to be approved in the App Store this since Apple changed the app approval process. GV Connect was the first one.

You can download GV Mobile+ from here. Hurry up!

UPDATE: The developer of GV Mobile+ is apparently pissed that we (and other sites) shared the news. As a result, the app is not free anymore.

UPDATE 2: The dev says on Twitter the app should be free again for just a few minutes. Hurry!

Angry Birds Plush Toy Spotted

Last month we reported that Angry Birds creators wanted to push their success a bit further by turning the famous birds into a movie and toys. While the movie still seems like a stretch to me, I never doubted we'd see some Angry Birds toys hit the shelves. It seems it's now just a matter of time.

Some guy was walking the streets of NY when he saw a woman carrying a box of Angry Birds plush toys. He snapped a picture and asked her more about the toys. Apparently they will be in stores early 2011...

Apple Releases iTunes 10.0.1 [Jailbreak Safe]

Apple just released the first update to iTunes 10 with this version 10.0.1. This is a just a minor update that fixes the usual bugs but also brings Ping to the sidebar. The Ping Sidebar basically gives you a quick glance at your Ping activity. Nothing earth shattering here.

It's worth noting that iTunes 10.0.1 is safe for jailbroken iPhones. More info about the update below...

8 Jailbreak Apps for iPhone to Try on This Weekend

There's been a bunch of new jailbreak apps popping up in Cydia within the last 24 hours. The thing is, they're not all that great so instead of giving them full coverage, I thought I'd put them all in one short and convenient list.

So check them out, maybe give them a try and let us know what you think of them...

A Very Nice iPhone Lockscreen

You might remember my post about TypoPhone 4 last month, which I think is a very nice iPhone lockscreen. Turns out a developer has decided to improve it by adding some colors and tweaking the layout a little bit. This new lockscreen theme is called Slanted Lock and is available in Cydia under the ModMyI repo.

The result is very nice and quite colorful. It displays the weather of your selected location, and the background changes with the weather. Very neat!

I was doing a little bit of cleaning on my desk today and I found this iPhone case for 3GS. It was hiding under a pile of papers and other unnecessary documents.

CEO Hints Against a 2011 Verizon iPhone

The thing we love about rumors is also the thing we hate about them. They change every day. This has been truer nowhere else than in the Verizon iPhone hoopla. It's truly the story that just won't find a resolution and here we are.

Computer World has a lengthy update about the possibility and state of the 2011 Verizon iPhone. It isn't happening. If it is going to happen it will not be until the carrier gets their 4G network up and running...

Best iPhone Proposal Ever

I remember when I proposed to my fiancee almost a year ago. I was nowhere near as creative as Chad was by making this awesome geeky video.

Using the iPhone and iPhone apps only, Chad came up with this video that he managed to get played at his local movie theater, which happened to be the place where he and his fiancee Vy got their first dates. The video started playing and she apparently knew right away what was going on. The rest is history...

Brits Look to Make a Dollar Off the iPhone

You have to love the mind of the opportunist. Always lurking in the weeds just waiting to strike the opportunity at the chance of making some money. That's exactly what's going on over in Britain.

9 to 5 Mac reports that the folks across the pond are lining up to buy brand new iPhone 4s and then sell them back to China (where they are made), unlocked at a higher price. The same thing is happening in New York where the New York Times is quoted saying the following about the "grey" market back and forth:
