I just got words about a nice little trick that allows you to insert YouTube videos in iMovie on your iPhone. It’s pretty simple, and best of all, you don’t even need a computer to do it. For this to work, you will need a jailbroken iPhone and 3 applications:
- iMovie for iPhone
- iFile (Cydia)
- MxTube (Cydia)
Step 1: In MxTube, search for the movie you want to download and use in your iMovie creation. Download the movie to your iPhone.
Step 2: In iFile, navigate to /var/mobile/Media/MxTube and tap the blue arrow of the movie you downloaded. It will take you to the file attributes. From there, tap the name of the file and change the extension from .MP4 to .MOV. When done, scroll all the way down and tap “Add to Camera Roll”.
Step 3: Open your camera roll. Your YouTube video should be there. You can now import it in a new iMovie creation.
You can see a step by step video tutorial by AplePi below. It’s kinda boring at times so don’t hesitate to fast forward.
Quick and simple. That’s how I like my iPhone hacks.
Have you tried it yet?
