Update: There is now a much easier way to add Frash / Flash to your iPhone.

A few weeks ago we told you about Frash, the Android port of Flash to iOS. We even showed you how to install it on your iPad but to be honest, that wasn’t a very stable port. Grant Powell recently compiled an iPhone 4 version of the patch that seems to work pretty well.

In this article, I will show you how to install Frash 0.02 on your iPhone 4. Some people report it also work on the previous iPhone models and iPod Touch. Proceed at your own risks…

Step 1: Make sure your iPhone is jailbroken. If it’s not follow these instructions to jailbreak with JailbreakMe.

Step 2: Install OpenSSH from Cydia.

Step 3: Make sure iTunes is not running and SSH into your iPhone using WinSCP or CyberDuck.

Step 4: Create a folder called “Cydia” in /var/root/Media. Create another folder called “AutoInstall” inside the Cydia folder.

Step 5: Download the Frash-0.02.deb file and put it in the AutoInstall folder.

Step 6: Restart your iPhone.

Done! You should now be able to play Flash animations on your iPhone.

Thanks to Grant Pannel and Redmond Pie for the instructions.

I FOUND A WAY TO MAKE FRASH WORK! (using iPhone 4, 4.0.1). I was having the gray “Flash” screen, then going black and nothing… So the way that I fixed it was by installing the “Frash Toogle” for SBS from the same resource… once installed go to SBS and TURN OFF Frash and see if it works! U can try to turn it on if it doesn’t work! HOPE IT WORKS! <3 from Miami! LalalA

  • If anyone is having problems with the Flash not displaying or getting the dreaded Connection Refused error. The simplest solution, which i found to work for me, is to completely uninstall it and install it again.

Safari crashes every once in awhile too, expected from an alpha release.
Anyways, I can’t wait for an upgrade! 😀

  • My GS has been jailbroken one day. I installed frash but I don’t get the F icon but the old ‘Flash’ and when click I get ‘abort()food…” A friend helped install frash yesterday with the new easier method. Same result. Okay..so var/root/autoinstall etc… What? How?

  • I clicked to get responses (how to’s? on the var/root/ autoinstall etc) in email. But I’m happy to receive them on this web wall as well. Or via setting up a phone call. Whatever is easiest.
