Just got a new iPhone 4 and you’re not sure how to use it? That’s why Apple created an iPhone 4 user guide. From setting up your email to adding contacts, this 244 page PDF will walk you through every single step of the iPhone set up.

Obviously this iPhone 4 user guide was not designed for people who already own an iPhone but I’m sure it will help first-time iPhone owners.

    Just bought an expensive phone/toy. It could compicate my live but I will not let it. It will take time to be proficient on this toy. Be advised if you print even one-half of manual it takes more than 250 sheets of paper. Better really be a patient person when using this phone.

      Just load the PDF into iBooks then you have it on you at all times to read at your leisure or to use as a quick reference.

        yes you can! sign your name and a regular white sheet. Then scan it and save it as a file. then go into the mail settings for signatures and apply the scan file and resize and apply …presto! lol

      Hook up to iTunes click on the name of your phone to select it click it again to put it in edit mode. Change the name to what you want then hit enter. Done!

    5/6/2011 I just purchased the uphone 4 today and I’m blind after just 3 hours of tryoing to read the users guide! I wish I had known before I ponied uup my cash, but Apple has soured me to their products and the instructions that come with them. for me it really takes away the enjoyment of trying to keep uup with technology inthe area if ipods and iphones.

      I too recently purchased an apple iphone 4 and am nearly blind after just two days trying to read any pard of the user guide! I bought the iphone because I suffered a stroke a few years ago and it is important that I have the means to call emergency srvices when and/oe if i’m experiencing any problem. However I’m certainly not sure that my choice of phones was the correct one!

        Give it some time, Larry, and you’ll get better at it. I’m 75 years old and have my share of problems too, but you’ll learn how to use the phone if you’re patient. Personally, though, I’d download the user manual to a computer and study it that way. There’s only so much a small screen can do. Good luck!

      This condition is like ‘hanging’. Just press the sleep button and the home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds…You will see the apple logo appear on the screen…Your I Phone would have been rebooted…

    Just got my iPhone white last night. How do I get rid of the “All Inboxesl” ?? I just want the traditional Mail Accounts showing so I can select which email I want to see if a new mail has arrived. How do I get rid of the Inbox Folders and the All-Inboxes” leaving only the email accounts? I have 3 personal email and 1 work email which I do not want mixed together in a Mailbox, it’s confusing.     Cannot download any apps or anything for that matterhave linked with iTunes already – how do you restrict number of tunes etc that Go onto Phone during synch process as I suspect I have whole of families cd collection on my phone! I am very new user- one week!

    How can I delete music that I’ve purchased off my i phone? I’ve put them in my computers library so I don’t need them on my phone! Help

      You do it on iTunes. You don’t need to have your phone connected to do this. Go into iTunes under your play lists you will se a PL called purchased on ‘s iPhone. Delete the songs from the PL. Once you sync they will be removed from the phone (unless you add them to another PL or add them explicitly). The songs will still be in your iTunes library.

    Can anyone tell me why the name of a person, phoning me, does not show up when I receive a call from them, even though I have them as a Contact in my Iphone.It just comes up as “Unknown”. Any assistance would be great.

      Caller ID is an extra cost service with some carriers I am with Rogers and have to pay extra for that feature.

      Kim I got a cool app that is free and you convert any song you have into a ring tone. It’s very cool!
      It’s called” ring tone converter. ” tell me if you found the app. It looks like so….. A blur key note with yellow lines over it.

    Kim. Sorry… In iTunes u have too drag the song to the ringtone menu on the left from iTunes. Once u do that sync your phone and it should appear in your iPhone.

      kim did you reboot? if not, yes your right..hold down the top button and wait until u see the apple symbol on ur screen then just wait until it starts up again. let me know if that works ok?

        kim remember that u have to do this twice ..the first hold down of the button is shutting it off. it will ask you to slide the button to initially turn off. once off then wait 5 sec. then re press the button until u see the apple symbol and wait a few moments and it will go back to normal. let me know…. :o )

    Hi , i have just got the iphone 4 white, had the 3 before, this one for somereason will only ring 3 times and then goes to message bank , i am not always able to find my phone at the bottom of my bag in 3 rings, Any idea on how to change it to ring longer , i am with virgin.
    Also i have never been able to send emails or photo’s to facebook , can you tell me what i need to do to make this happen , Thank you Rae

    My phone appears to have stopped rotating the view, no matter what I do it won’t rotate it just stays in the portrtait mode all the time and yes I have tried bang it.

      Banging your phone is never a valid troubleshooting method. Do this. Double click the home button at the bottom of the screen when the task bar pops up swipe to the right. You should see an icon on the far left with a lock inside a circular arrow. Tap it. You are now rotatable. Free to go bang other things that need banging.

      In your phone settings select mail calendar contacts. Three quarters of the way down there is a line for signature. You only get one signature for all your email accounts.

      What kind of symbols and are you sure they’re not part of your signature

    they are not part of my signature as it is my first name. symbols that are not on my keypad

      The symbols are in fact on your key pad. Try pressing and holding a key >^‰`č¿ Are all from my keypad on my iPhone by pressing and holding. What I was suggesting was that maybe there are lines you can’t see on your signature. Try this. On the spot where you have your signature in settings press and hold on the text area until the little magnifier pops up then release. This should get you a select/ select all prompt. Select all then type your name again. That should work. If not it may be something with your email provider.

      Press and hold both the button at the top and the home button on the bottom at the same tim. Hold them for 5-10 seconds the phone will shut off. Then use the button on the top to re start it.

      sorry to hear that but you need to return it. Tanglereid is wrong. by doing Tang. procedure will just talke a still photo of your screen. to turn off the phone just hold down the top botton until u see the apple symbol on your screen.. Try that! if you have or if it did not work then go back and get another on from the apple store asap. they are really good on no questions asked. good luck!

    I have iphone 4 with AT&T. When I am on a phone call, my ear hits buttons on the screen and mutes, calls, or puts my call on speaker. I have to hold my phone away from my ear so this will not happen. Can I fix this?

      Let me ask. Us your phone in a flip phone cover? If so the cover is blocking the sensor that activates the phone to go blank when close to the head. Let me know.

    I cannot get my voicemail to accept a custom greeting. I record my greeting, push save and it still answers a calling party by telling them to enter a 10 digit number. Help!
