How to Fix Push Notifications On Hacktivated iPhone

By , Mar 10, 2010

push doctorIf you have recently “hacktivated” your iPhone, which means activating it to work with carriers other than the official ones, you may have encountered push notification issues. In most cases, push notifications don’t work properly or even don’t work at all.

There is a simple fix for this and it’s called Push Doctor. Simply add the following source to Cydia then look for Push Doctor: http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/

After installing Push Doctor, reboot your iPhone.

Push Doctor works very well with 3.1.3 and 3.1.2. It is free and has the support of the Dev Team, so you can go with it safely.

A thing to keep in mind when using this fix is that you have to uninstall your previous PushFix that you might have installed. But other than that, I love this new PushFix. My facebook app no longer gives me Push Notifications from “Akbar what’s his face” saying that he posted something on my wall and as far as my other apps…they work flawlessly too! You may also want to download the Youtube fix too!…Because one thing you’ll find is that the youtube app doesn’t work on most iPhones using 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 using this PushFix.

The only thing I can complain about is that it took a while for exactly someone to come out with this. The old certificates that were on the old PushFix were starting to get on my nerves!

This is a lifesaver. All push notifications work perfectly now…. eBuddy, Facebook, Youtube. I have a 3GS with 3.1.2 and the Youtube app worked with this fix, didn’t need to install the Youtube fix.

I guess is one of those things that work differently on everyone’s iPhone because I know for mine 3GS, I had to install the Youtube fix and for my wife’s iPhone I also had to install it.

  • Awesome! this is what i was looking for for a long time.

Sebastien I’m a long time reader to your blog.. but I will have to say this… With all do respect and not being an ass or anything…… just a critic if you will….. but your stuff is getting old…… man…… you used to be good at blogging things on the spot as they were happening. But the stuff you are posting is old ….. well for me…. since I’d like to think I’m up to date on all the stuff thats going on with Apple and the iPhone….. but anyhow I know your on vacation and hopefully youll get back on your game again ! Cheers !

  • @ OSXUser You’re right, I don’t blog on the spot anymore so some of the stuff can seem like a few days old when published. It’s because I am traveling and as much as I like to blog about the iPhone, I simply don’t have the time. Things will change back to normal when I go back to the States in a few months. Thanks for your understanding.
