In fact, I applaud his financial wisdom. Get 10k for doing something that (I’m sure) he’d eventually do, anyway? I really can’t see how anyone sees this as traitorous; someone offered him a lot of money to do something and he bit the bait. Honestly, I think you’re just pissed that someone didn’t hand you 10k and said, “Find a hole for me”.

If anything, this whole situation is a double-edged sword; but a sword that will most definitely help us in the long run. Someone, it doesn’t matter if he’s a sheister or not, is willing to give a hacker 10k in order to unlock a baseband that is in a great many of phones. Do you not read teh Internets? How many things stay hidden online?

Grow up and look at the bigger picture: we’re getting an unlock on bb 05.11.07.

Geohot is releasing an unlock for iPhone Baseband Version 05.11.07 on 3/11/2009.
Does this mean if I have Bootloader Version 5.9 with 05.11.07 I will be able to downgrade my boot loader to version 4.6 if I wanted to change the IMEI?

So, all the people blogging that BR2 also did not work or caused serious issues is not factual or current?

Do you think these people are figments of our imagination?

Do you think there is 1 person using hundreds of aliases to post?

Please explain why blogs and forums are filled with MANY people saying both BR1 and BR2 was a disaster for them?

All in recent days, which to me, seems pretty ‘current’.

I have my facts straight. Apparentely others dont or simply confuse facts with fiction or dont care to know the difference or care to actually research anything to see the ‘true and current facts’.

The very author of this blog has even commented about the many issues with BR, the fact he didnt like how GEO handled his quick turn around explanation as well as the fact that even he will wait for DEV to avoid any possible issues with GEOs stuff after seeing the many others with issues.

I really would like to suggest 1 thing. Do whatever you as an individual wishes to do. But flaming me, looking for a response is a pure waste of bandwidth. I must assume people have better things to do then read this type of drivel.

To make everybody happy, how is this.

I love GEO.

I think GEO is a genius.

I think GEO’s exploits are awesome and 100% safe to use.

I hope everybody uses his exploits and I hope everybody donates a big fat chunk of cash to him as he desrves every penny.

I fail to see why anybody puts such credence in to what a poster on a blog has to say. Whether I say GEO is great or he sucks is irrelevant. Do people really take advice from posters on a blog they do not know?

God gave everybody a brain. I would certainly hope people use their brains to make their own educated decisions. Taking advice, no matter what the advice is, from a stranger on a blog is not wise. If I say GEO sucks, you would be fools to believe me. If I say GEO is Awesome, you would be fools to believe me.

Use your brain, do your research and listen to yourself!

Then live with whatever choice YOU make based on YOUR research!

I think that, like most people, you missed the point of this post. The point is not that he’s getting paid. The point is that he’s getting paid by someone who has been stealing from the Dev Team and illegally selling their jailbreak/unlock. Jodie Sanders is not your friendly neighbor charging you $10 to jailbreak (this is ok). Jodie Sanders just sells you a copy of PwnageTool or RedSn0w while you can get it for free anywhere else. Might be hard to understand because it’s software related. But replace the software by a car for example. Now let’s say Jodie Sanders sells stolen cars and he’s hiring someone to steal a car (GeoHot). Does that sound right? Of course not.

Now about the money thing. If you had read my post entirely, you would have noticed that I said the following: “It is not wrong to get paid for your hard work. It is actually a good thing to do. I don’t work for free and I don’t expect others to do it either.”

See, I think it’s cool to get paid for what you do. The point is you have to be careful of who you work for because that might send the wrong message to the rest of the community.

Here in Belgium, the law does not allow Apple to lock iPhone on one carrier.
So they are sold factory unlock!

I don’t understand why Apple is wasting so much time and effort in locking their device as I’m sure they could sell much more if it was factory unlocked!?
