My wife is a at&t employee for the land servce and we do t get as good of service.

Yes, but technically, I am not moving out of the country. I’m just traveling for 10months to a year. I’ll still pay bills and taxes in the US. Besides, I don’t have much bad things to say against AT&T.

WTF. Didn’t u say it was the law that they wave the fee if u move out of the US? Don’t rest until you can escape ur contract w/o any fees. I’m sure u can do it if ur persistant enough. It’s not like u want them to wave the ETF because of some small loop hole in the contract. You want them to wave it because it is the law!

I can understand where some of these companies are coming from because we sign contracts with them. At the very same time, I think that they should have a system similar to the banks when a person is trying to get out of their mortgage early. I switched my mortgage to a different bank about 2 years before my term ended. The fee I paid was equal to 3 months interest only. The amount I was saving in interest with the rate at the new bank more than made up for the fee it cost me to get out of the term. Why can’t they do something similar? Some people sign a 3 or 5 year contract with some cell phone company and are not satisfied with the service so this would be a fair solution I think.
