Can’t find the ipsw?? Couple of suggestions. Note: I have not actually done the jailbreak process as yet because I ALSO could not find the ipsw. I have been digging the blogs most of the night.

One suggestion was to simply rename the .zip file to .ipsw. Don’t know if this will work or not.

Second suggestion was to use Mozilla to do the download. I tried this and when I chose to SAVE rather than open the file, Mozilla saved it as a .ipsw not as a .zip.

Most posts indicate the .ipsw must be in the same folder as the software you are running.
Most posts indicate the 3gs with 3.0.1 must use redsn0w 8. Can’t verify this as I am still trying to get everything in place to try the process. With all the ‘disastrous’ posts it seems prudent to gather as much information as possible before starting the process. Some “firmware” upgrades can not be interrupted once begun.

Trying to jb 3gs using redsn0w_0.8 but to no avail. Process stops while waiting for phone to reboot. I’ve read many other posts about the same problem and also the solutions that some have used but it’s still not working for me. I have no problems jailbreaking my iPod 3.0. Any help would be appreciated.

You need a torrent downloader like utorrent to be able to download the file.

When I download RedSn0w 0.8 3GS for Mac I get a file called “redsn0w-mac_0.8.zip.4989696.TPB.torrent”. Nothing will open it. What do I do?

the only problem i’m having after the jailbreak is with my email. anything i delete shows right back up after like 15 seconds. i haven’t changed any settings or anything…i click to delete it and then go into trash and empty it there too, but then i get the sound for mail and it’s in the inbox again. ugh…someone help!

i added iclarified to cydia but i’m not seeing any app in the folder that would fix this.
