iControlPad takes iPhone Gaming to the Next Level

By , Oct 8, 2008

Remember when you first jailbroke your iPhone? After seeing all the YouTube videos of people playing Super Mario and other Nintendo games on their iPhones, you thought “I gotta have it”.

Then if you were like me, the first time you tried it out, it was a bigger let down than OJ Simpson. Ouch. Anyways it seemed as though none of the games handled the touch controls very well, and always seemed laggy and unresponsive.

Well the folks over at iControlpad.com has heard the cries of the people and created the iControlpad. It’s a slide-on accessory that locks into the iPhone’s serial port, no other modding needed. It has a thin, sleek case that looks like it matches the iPhones design and quality. It uses a d-pad on the left hand side and 4 button setup on the right (a la Super Nintendo).

A quick visit to their website shows the control pad in several stages of development, and a recent update claims they are in final stages and almost ready to ship with a price point below 30$.

Although only available for jailbroken iPhones at the moment, it does have the support of several developers. Hopefully Apple will follow suit as this could revolutionize the iPhone gaming industry.

If interested, pop over to their website iControlpad.com and sign up for their email newsletter, and you’ll be one of the first to know when these things are available. I don’t know that I’ll be standing in line for one, unless they tell me it’s compatible with Asphalt4 Racing. ;op
