Install cracked ipa files directly from the iPhone

[digg-me]I’ve been very reluctant to post about hacks and cracks lately as I think you guys use these cracks for the wrong reasons. I talked to a lot of developers within the last few weeks and I can understand where they’re coming from and more importantly, why they don’t want to see their applications hacked and made available for free all over the Internet (mostly for financial reasons).

However, I do believe in freedom of information. I also believe that some of you will carefully use what I’m going to talk about. I said it before and I’ll say it again; if you install a cracked application on your iPhone and you like this application, please buy it from the App Store. It is the fair way to do it. Most of these apps are under $5 anyways, so if you can afford a $200 phone, I’m sure you can afford a few $.99 apps every once in a while.

This being said, I’m going to show you how you can install cracked iPhone ipa games and applications directly from your iPhone (a la App Store). We already covered the lenghthy and painful method of “manually” adding ipa files to your iPhone. This one is much more pleasant.

I am not sure of the prerequisites for this new method. You might have to perform the steps covered in this tutorial (ie. create extra folder, set the proper permission, etc…) for it to work. Since I already performed all these tricks on my iPhone, I may have a built-in advantage on you. So try this method, and if it doesn’t work, try this first.

Please do not send me angry emails and do not post insulting comments if it doesn’t work and messes up your iPhone. You are doing this at your own risks. Ok? Understood?

Alright, here is how to install cracked ipa files directly from your iPhone:

  1. Make sure you are on a jailbroken iPhone. If you don’t know how to do this, check out one of these posts.
  2. Go to Cydia and uninstall the Safari Download Plugin if you had previously installed it
  3. Still in Cydia, add this source: http://cydia.hackulo.us
  4. Still in Cydia, install “Installous” and “AppShare”
  5. Quit Cydia
  6. Reboot your iPhone

You will now have 2 new icons on your spingboard: a green one and a blue one. The blue one is AppShare. Open it and you will see the different sources of cracked ipa. Choose one (Appulo.us and the Monkey’s Ball don’t seem to work – at least for me). Browse for an application. Click “install”. Done!

Some people are already reporting that it crashes when trying to install an ipa. That might be the permission and the extra folders issue I was mentioning above. This might be a fix for crashes during install. Again, I’m just reporting the raw info here. I didn’t develop this so I’m not sure how everything works. Please let us know in the comments.

    You need to go to settings (Installous), then turn iTunes Sync on. In this way, you don’t need to transfer the app to itunes anymore.

    Guys, for those of you who are getting the “Application cannot open” error, there is a simple fix. Download at least 1 app from the appstore and then this error msg is gone. Seems to be the only fix working at the moment, i tried to work around it but didnt get anywhere.

    Also one more thing guys about the MobileInstallation file: it MUST BE THE SAME VERSION AS UR FW VERSION to work properly! Otherwise u’ll get crazy errors!

    E.g. If ur on fw 2.2 then u need MobileInstallation 2.2.

    it wont let me sync the apps i got off instalous onto my itunes because it says there not authorized and it wont let me sync any of my songs on or off until i delete them and a file transfer isnt working what do i do?

    Guys I just installed two free applications from iTune Store and all of my cracked application are not only working but doesnt disappear when I sync iTunes, I just added the same IPAs in Application folder of iTunes.

    Ive jailbroken my firmware 2.2.1 itouch using winpawn and installed installous. Installed apps using installous and works fine but i prefer downloading the ipas by computer and sshing in download folder of installous and install it using installous and it seems to work just fine. The problem im trying to solve is NONE of the apps i installed thru installous are updating. Ive been searching in google if other people are having similar problem but with no luck so im assuming every1s installed cracked/test apps are updating just fine. Can any1 tell me how to get all my cracked/test apps installed thru installous to start updating? Also tried syncing with itunes but it doesnt update as well although the apps was synced successfully.

    – After i add the source on #3 i see changes in cydia “Installous” is one of them so i install it but i cant find “AppShare”

      You don’t need AppShare anymore. You just need Installous.

    Well I download apps from installous but when I install them they are not on my springboard… And just recently I re-jailbrike my iPod touch.. Is it because it has been RE-jailbrokenor do I need something like appshare?

    You need to get an app from the appstore
    To be able to see them on your springboard

    I prefer doing it manually because the Installous app is realyl crappy. It takes forever to load, there are download errors WAY to often, and if something goes wrong, you have to search (and let it load), click, attempt to download (let it load), then HOPEFULLY, you can actually download it. Then you get pretty crappy speeds sometimes. The app is slow, buggy, and is more of a badly coded website than an app. And the feature to sync downloaded apps to iTunes doesn’t work for me. Every time I sync, it deletes all my downloaded apps. The manual way is much more permanent.

    All you need to use an archive software (Winzip, 7zip free, etc..) and extract the IPA into a folder.
    Upload the folder called “Appname.app” into your iPhone via SSH (or IPB or ifunbox, whatever..), upload it in the iPhone directory ” /Applications “.
    Use terminal via SSH and run this command:

    cd /Applications

    chmod 775 ./Appname.app -R

    (It’s case sensitive, it’s linux.

    Okay… for everyone who can’t sync to iTunes, here’s a solution (you will need an iTunes Store account).
    Authorize your computer and make sure that at least one app has been downloaded on your account.
    Goto File -> Transfer Purchases From “(In my case it is called) Deman’s iPwn”.

    They should sync.

    I try using Winzip (Windows) but it is not able to unzip IPA files????

    Is there any way to do any of this if you don’t have a wireless internet connection? I’ve installed Blackra1n and got it to install Cydia and Rock OK (using somebody else’s wireless connection) but after that I’m stuffed without wireless, as I can’t get Cydia to create the folders and stuff I need, I’ve got some cracked apps, but they are useless to me, as I’ve tried to install them, iTunes does everything OK, then reports them as unable to install and removes them.

    I installed installous i got 2 apps, now it doesn’t works. It says error with the repository. What to i need to do. It won’t browse or search anymore.

    AppShare does not exist in the Hackulo.us repository anymore…. Perhaps it is outdated.

    I cant open any of my downloaded apps. I download them fine in Installous, they show up on the spring board, it opens for a split second then closes. any ideas?

    hello. i cant seems to download my cracked apps into itunes. Previously, i can do it without any problem after allowing installous to sync with itunes. Now, after restoring, i cant do that. Any solutions? Currently i’m using itunes 9.1.1.12.

    jailbreak directly from iphone by entering http://www.jailbreakme.com in safari, then in cydia go add sorces,edit,add url http://cydia.hackulo.us press yes wait to install, then go back to sources an click on hackulo.us and the click on the relevant appsync for you os i.e appsync for os4.0 wait for install to complet, go back into hackulo.us in sources again and scroll down to installous and install.

    your iphone is now jailbroke and u have an app called installous which will let u download cracked apps dircetly on your phone, note this also works for iphone4 but cracked apps are not legal and should be paid for

    the “transfer purchases” thing in itunes DOES fix this. Connect the iphone, but DONT sync until you right-click your phone and transfer purchases. THEN sync. It works, i just did it, reopened itunes, and they were still there. Thanks !!

    Hi,
    What if you’re not really interested in stealing anybody’s hard work, which only costs about $5.00 max most times anyway, and just want to install apps you already paid for? I don’t see a clear way to have iTUnes restore my apps. And, when I let iTunes restore my whole phone, it locks me out with a corrupt passcode. So, I just want my apps back, nothing else. iTunes, in it’s arrogant wisdom, appears to want me to restore the whole phone.
