I think even a computer user with half a brain could work it out. If something screws up just do it again which is so simple. But the half wits would probably be the ones asking the stupid questions so perhaps they should just stay away. :) I actually saw a comment someone left on how they could hack their BlackBerry with UltraSn0w so they could use other providers??? The benefit I like is the ability to try before you buy. I have purchased a few appz and have been bitterly disappointed. What looks and reads like a great app can turn out to be crappy. Sure it is only a few dollars but it is a pain having to go research things for a second time and then possibly regretting the decision yet again. Downloading an app giving it a test run and then if I really like it buying it makes my life a lot easier. If it is worth a cracker taking the time to crack it then it is worth the time testing it out. Yeah sure some of the appz know when they are cracked and knowing how to block that does take a bit of knowledge but overall the majority of appz are pretty easy to install and use. In total I've only got about 10 paid for App store apps on my iPhone but I've tried out a few hundred appz to decide on what I liked. And programs like MXTube are well worth the hacking. :) If the hack required hardware modifications like a WII for example I'd actually consider doing it once my contract was finished but with a software mod like this I see no harm in screwing around with the iPhone the minute it comes out of the box.
