What are .ipa files?

You’ve heard about those .ipa files and if you’re into jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod Touch, you’ve probably also been looking for these illegal ipa files. But do you know what they stand for?

.ipa stands for iPhone/iPod Touch Application. This extension developped by Apple is used for applications on iPhone and iPod Touch devices, downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

    you wouldnt need to know what the ipa file is unless you are installing them yourself. you will run into trouble too unless you also get appsync for the corresponding firmware

    When trying to download ipa files through installous on my wifi (virgin media) the download speed is very slow (8kb/s). When I use a friends wifi (sky) the speed is 150ish kb/s. When using my wifi the file rarely downloads properly.
    Is there a way to make my speed increase? Or is virgin media the problem?
    I have tried reinstalling all the software to no avail.
    Please help!!!!
