How to fix Cycorder sound issue when uploading to YouTube

Sebastien, Sep 8, 2008

Last week I wrote about how Cycorder is a great application for recording videos with your iPhone. That was before I realized that I had a minor issue when uploading a video recorded with Cycorder to YouTube. The problem I was having is that when I played the video on YouTube, the audio track was covered by an awful sound.

I did some research that led me to think it was my anti-virus (Zone Lab) but it was not. By doing a little more research I found out that YouTube sometimes have problems with .mov videos. .mov is the output format for videos recorded with Cycorder. YouTube help section helped me understand that it was better to upload videos in .mp4 format.

So what did I do? I opened my favorite iPhone video converterCucusoft Video Converter. Cucusoft converts my .mov video into a .mp4 format which is:

  1. Compliant with YouTube prefered format
  2. A lighter video, cutting the size of any video in half

Using Cucusoft to convert my Cycorder video output into .mp4 not only cut my upload time of video on YouTube in half, but it also fixed the sound issue I had with Cycorder output format.

Here is a video that I recorded with Cycorder and uploaded to YouTube…. without any sound issue.

    Hello Khondoker,

To transfer your videos recorded with Cycorder from your iPhone to your PC, you will need to either SSH into your phone, or use iPhoneBrowser (this is the easiest solution if you have a pc).

Once you’re in your iPhone, navigate to /var/mobile/Media/Videos and your videos should be there. Just save them to your desktop or wherever you want them.

As I say on this post, you may have sound issues if you upload these videos to YouTube. My videos play well on my iPhone and PC but for some reason, when I upload them to YouTube, the sound is just awful.

A way to avoid this sound issue is to convert the videos to mp4 using Cucusoft for example.
